So... seems like I am also one of first to have my faulty G6 repaired under warranty for a faulty screen :s13:

Fortunately LG has quick turnaround service, but it is still annoying to have to re-load everything onto the phone, and to know that my brand new phone has already been opened and fixed :(

Seems like the LG QC issues may still be there (for me at least, having had an LG V10 that has bootlooped in the past, an LG watch with screen issues, and an LG with LED image retention issues). The issues of the v20 slowing down after some time also seem to be creeping in with the G6, the camera being a perfect example where it takes a couple of seconds before you are ready to change between narrow / wide or to take a shot.

Sigh. So far having had a Xiaomi MIX, Mate 9, V20, G6 etc. in the last few months, I've been most impressed with the MIX. Can't wait for the version 2 to be launched. The Mate 9 also feels a lot quicker than the G6 on a comparable basis (I have two of them in front of me, with exactly the same content on each).

The G6 also still has basic features missing. For example, the 'night time' mode (that cuts blue light) has an automatic timer on both the Mate 9 and MIX. But on the G6 you manually have to enable it every single night, then turn it off in the morning. Likewise the other two phones have a much better implementation of 'second space' user profiles vs. the G6 which relies on the slow and cumbersome Google profiles to swap between (complete with a mandatory 60 second wait to swap back). It is also worth noting that LG doesn't really have any good VR accessories in place, and despite this being a new phone, is not compatible with Google Daydream. Lost opportunity.

On a more personal note, I am also not sold on the 1:2 screen ratio. In the end, most apps / games don't use the screen estate. And in the end you're left with a narrower than normal view that makes it feel more like the phone is 5". The normal ratio still has benefits, and I hope that this 1:2 trend doesn't perpetuate past the current generation of phones.

In the end, the G6's saving grace is a high quality wide angle camera... and for me that's about it. Everything else the competition can already do, and in many cases, do better.

Just my two cents. You mileage may vary :s13::D

What's wrong with your G6 screen?

i have a solution for your night mode issues. Just download the app twilight. Its not a native app but you can set the full intensity, brightness and also set a customized timer to activate it. I use it on all my android devices. No need to rely on native support :)

So looks like Qoo10 offer the best deal at $755 (after $100 voucher), has anyone bought from Gold Medal or Super Mobile before? Trustworthy?
Gold medal definitely is more reliable based on their reviews in there. My colleagues bought from them and they got their brand new sealed set within a day. (choose QxQuick delivery).

Furthermore, now if you use qoo10, $100 dollar coupon to offset it, effectively , you would only be paying $755.99 .

Something I found about the G6's bundled earbuds
https://www.0db.co.kr/xe/REVIEW_0DB/30870?ckattempt=1

They're made by Cresyn which for those who dont know, is a korean audio company, I personally have one of their Phiaton-branded earphones. Im not up to speed on the V10/V20 but the article seems to mention the V20 bundled earbuds were also cresyn

That article above compares the new cresyn bundled earbuds with older versions. Since I'm a G4 owner, I've got that black and red Quadbeats 3 which actually sounded pretty good back in the day, and the article also mentions the G6 earphones sounding almost on par with the quadbeats

Sure it doesnt have the AKG branding to boast about like Samsung earbuds but its nice to see the bundled earbuds arent trash

You've not read through the thread have you.

I bought from Gold Medal and got the first local phone. No issues.

When my G6 was faulty this week, LG fixed it under warranty and were aware of Gold Medal as an authorised distributor.

G6 has this widget. You just need to adjust the size of the clock widget to bigger.

can advise please

1 week of usage on my G6.
Unplugged since 7.30am, standing at 68% now (at 2.11pm).

Connected to 2 bluetooth peripherals - a Fitbit fitness band/watch + a Jaybird Wireless bluetooth headset.
Music via my bluetooth headset - ~1 hour
Sent about 2 dozen (?) of Whatsapp messages
Snapped 7 photos
Surf the net - ~10 minutes
Facebook - ~15 minutes

I reckoned that's good battery life, especially a big improvement from my G5.

I switched off QuickMemo+ and Always-On-Display as suggested by other forumers here.

In the Samsung forum user post - "I noticed for my S8+, if i put dual sim cards, batt drain is considerably faster as compared to single sim. The batt drain is pretty bad in my opinion. So now i just run on single sim better."

How about G6 user ? Got encounter such problem ?

For those who bought from Gold Medal, is the phone already set up when you receive? Received the phone today, unseal it and power it up, to go straight to Home Screen with a big Singtel App on the Home Page
