Would like to clarify some things regarding face unlock. It has in fact been available if you go under the lock screen settings: smart lock, and has been baked into android for quite a while now, in fact i have been using it since i had my LG G6 and previously on my LG G5.

Now in the recent update, LG has integrated that android smart lock code into the software by LG themselves, since it now shows up as part of Lock Screen and is no longer in Smart Lock. That said i must say it is more polished, taking advantage of the always on display and its sensors so i dont have to wake the phone up using the fingerprint scanner or double tapping. Will have to see how this affects battery life since it now utilises more of the gyroscopic and camera/ir sensor to track when the phone is picked up to face level, unlike when in Smart Lock you had to wake the phone before facial recognition activates.

However, having used face unlock in smart lock for the past few years, the integrated face unlock was plenty fast, but smart lock was still much faster than this. I have setup both the same way, same lighting conditions and with and without spectacles to improve facial recognition.

Edit: after further testing, seems like the sensors are using the acceleration at which the phone is being picked up or moved to activate the facial recognition unlock. Moving it from horizontal to face level very slowly does not trigger, however if move slightly faster at any point during the process will activate it. Even when at face level, if move slowly, no matter near or far from face it will not recognise and unlock, but if moving away or towards the face and slightly faster a bit the phone will unlock.

Attention to all who use Poweramp with the Hifi Quad DAC, turn off Direct Volume Control in Poweramp settings, Audio, Advanced Tweaks.

The default setting (16, which is the default steps for notification volumes) will screw with the new software update regarding the hifi quad dac volume control by LG. It causes volume to decrease significantly despite increasing or decreasing, until it hits a certain value that plays nice with the system and volume is proper.

Previously all increments by the volume rockers to hifi quad DAC have been in steps of 5 up to 75, after the latest update it has been changed to steps of 1 up to 75.

If you do the math you can tell that poweramp increments in system default 16 mode doesnt play nice with the 1 step max 75 on this phone. The other modes play nicer, but its much better to control volume using the phone DAC/AMP then software. So please turn it off.

Those using neo hybrid for the G6, do you think the volume buttons are too easily to be accidentally pressed?
