Anyone here also has a Huawei Mate 9? Am trying to decide whether to get the LG V20 or Mate 9... hope someone can give some real life feedback comparison...

I had both now. What are you looking for in the phone ? Both had its pro n cons. There is no better phone between them

Can anyone tell me how to retrieve recorded voice clips? Hd audio recorder can only record. It seems there is no menu to retrive the recorded clips.

If you recorded using HD Audio Recorder, look for the hamburger menu icon. That will list the recorded files and you can play it there

actually, I don't have any NEEDS... LOL... just WANTS... which is why I'm still just using a Nokia Asha...

I WANT to have a good camera with good sound phone that is reliable and has good battery life... ideally with a dedicated expandable memory slot and removable battery (nice to have).

LG V20 fits all my WANTS... just a bit concerned that there is a bootloop issue waiting to kill my phone... and the build quality doesn't seem as robust as the earlier V10...

and of cos the battery life isn't that good, though I can always get a zero lemon or another ori battery to swap out... (at extra cost)

So, because of the above, am considering the Mate 9 instead... though the camera and sound is not as good as the LG V20... but perhaps it's good enough for simple, impromptu point n shoot pics??? If I really want to take good pics, I'd use a proper DSLR, not a phone cam.

And the Mate 9's bigger battery means I don't have to worry about carrying another battery around or spending more $ to buy a zero lemon battery...

What about the UI? I only get to spend a bit of time playing with the demo sets so don't really know the quirks of either... which is more useful / less problematic?

I generally use Chrome browser for FB (including flash based games) and emails. Some Whatsapp and Waze (esp when driving to an unfamiliar location). Take pics. Would LIKE to use my phone to listen to music as I have lots of FLAC music files and good earphones... just can't do it now cos of my current phone's limitations.

So, based on the above, which phone would be more suitable for me?

Just be patient and wait it out
If you had used LG before you will know is not immediately out for all users at same time

If you post in mate 9 thread, people will tell you go for mate 9 and vice versa.

Both phones are equally good actually with v20 having the perks of 2k resolution and removable battery while mate 9 is a bigger screen with 1080p resolution but a hugeass battery.

If you decide on v20, make sure you get a set locally with warranty as LG phones have a history of bootlooping and dying for no reason. Even LG nexus 5x bootlooped after nougat update and LG offered full refunds to buyers (not locally though).

Bigger battery doesn't mean u stop there. All depending on usage. U may need to carry power bank.

actually, this may be it for me... cos I always want the biggest screen possible... LOL... at home also I use my 42" TV in my bedroom as a monitor (connected via HDMI to my laptop)...

Depends on how u define low resolution actually. On a daily usage, the difference is minimal but the battery life difference is exponential.

Higher ppi, outline more defined. To some users I suppose ok. Given a choice, i prefer higher ppi.

Bad comparison, can't compare phone and TV. Do you see your TV screen as close as you see your phone screen? If you are, you may want to consult an optometrist.

The closer you see the screen, the higher the PPI you will need, e.g., 2k/4K are preferable for VR, 1080p also works, but won't be as nice, will look pixelated.
