the hdd mounting was more diffcult than i'm used to. i have to unscrew 8 small screws to get the hdd cage off. at least the screws for the hdd themselevs are bigger, as it's mount on rubber pads. however, been rubber, it's takes a few seconds more to screw in the hdd as it tends to wobble abit and need to align the screw holes. the front 120mm fan cable tends to get in the way too

anyone knows what this is for?

plastic strip near the psu railing

holes galore underneath the casing

other stuff

1. my card reader doesn't seem it will play nice in the new casing as the supplied cable is too short. looks like i will need to look out for something else to fill the gap. becos of the additional slot, i don't have enough filters for it. i guess i will just stick a piece cloth in 1 bezel to reduce air from entering through it, at least until i have something to fill its absence, or have a proper filter.

2. didn't manage to find a usable light bulb that run on batteries, so that will be left out as well

hopefully i will finish everything tomorrow

tried my hand on a little pre routing, but hit the wall on what i originally planned

after turning the after 120mm fan around as well as mounting the fan grill the other side so that it will blow out instead of inwards ( the fan logo side if the side that takes air in from?), i took an hr or more trying to wriggle the fan connecto rout via a small hole under the mobo position

however, once the connector got through to the other side, i found the the cable lenght is too short to reach the fan controller. another hr or so was spend trying to get the fan connector out again

didn't find a solution to mount my make shift filter properly, so i end up tieing it to the bezel. it sticks out really bad, but that's the job for a door to take care of. i move the default position of the 31/2" bezel down a notch, so that the make shift filter will occupy the top. hopefully i can use that space to hide my excess cables. route the reset/power buttons and the usb port cables through the unused 51/2" slots. left it unsleeve for now, as i may have to take it down again if the cable lenght turns out short again

Dude.. consider soldering e fan leads and modding e case to get everything routed nicely.

i guess i will eventually get around to add an extension for me as even the most direct route was a little short for proper clean up, but not for the time being. it's going to take me a while to get my lazy butt off my chair again to track down the components to make the extension. in any case, getting the connector to go through the hole on the 51/2" slots was even tougher than the one near the mobo, so i'm hestiant to go back that route

Philip, does your V1k have similar holes underneath your casing like mine? i'm wondering if that are for the wheels....

this sucks. it's took me more than 10hrs to put together the casing. although it had thankfully powered up, both my optical drives weren't detected even though they have been powered ( both responded to the eject buttons. my sound card seem to have disappeared too. have to troubleshoot tomorow as now already quite late :(

it sound like something crash when i first power up the system. couldn't figure what happen

can't believe i forgot to switch one of my optical drives to master setting. that's the cause for the non detecting of my drives. the sound card was undetected likely cause by the sound card isn't fully sitted into the mobo. in the end, the portion of the end of the gold fingers of the card cannot be fully sitted, but thankfully, enough of them are in contact of that the sound card can be detected.

took a few more pictures, but it seems like it turn out worse than the previous batch, so i have to excludemost of them

stuff that are going in

cable wrapped some cables.... took more wrap than i've planned, so those that shouldn't be seen were not wrapped. those that were spaced out quite abit

psu, hdd installed into the casing

the mess behind

putting a spare 8cm fan on the empty slots between the optical drives and hdd, using ties. hope it holds. i orginally wanted it to be mounted on springs, but in the end did not find a way for it to hold on to the fan. hide some cables infront of it too.

the final shot. wrapped 2x sata cables and usb cables together in 1 wrapped, reset/power switches in another.

i have thought on getting the 12V cable underneath the mobo, but withdraw from it as i don't want it to tangle with the components below the mobo. the atx cable i though can go through the holes just behind the 51/2" slots, but the atx connector was too big. i was worried than i may not be able to closed the other side of the casing. in the end, both were just slightly short ( can't be more than 5cm)even if both problems is resolved.

not sure if other lian li casings are the same, but installing stuff for the 51/2" slots and hdd installations were troublesome. the optical drives have to be wriggle into position. there was nothing to hold the optical drives in position before it can be screwed into position. the screws were a little too small to be able to turn in by hand ( at least for me). same thing goes to the hdd cage installation

the mobo installation took longer than expected, not becos there's no indication of which holes on the mobo tray to mount the standoff ( i used my previous casing as reference so that one went smoothly), but becos it took me a long time to scrwe the mobo into the standoff. the bottom most screw really kills for me as my hand was too big to fit in that location, and thus dropping the screws countless times before finally getting it in. if i ever get another casing, it MUST have a removal mobo tray, considering how much free space this casing offers, i still can't get it in easily, i couldn't imagine what might have happen if i gotten a A07 or a V1k, or a P180 which i considered for the longest time, which offered far less space

my hands are too big :p. maybe i should have remove the back panel next time. still, the screws are annoyingly small, and i keep dropping them. it doesn't help that my screwdriver is non-magnetised

i guess the taste of led greatly depends on people. i like the red led, contrasting the blue for power. at least it's better than yellow or green

Get it from the local distributor. Selling at S$5/pcs. Yes, daylight robbery.
