Hi folks,

Anyone tried F&E at Lijiang before? Any must do things? We will be there for 4 nights and I've actually been there before enroute to Shangri-la. Caught Impressions of Lijiang and walked around the ancient town before. Wanna do something different this time round.

Any suggestions?

There is of course the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to visit, but since u have time, u may want to consider an excursion out to Lugu Lake, 5-6hrs away.

We cycled to 束河古镇. I also did the Tiger Leaping Gorge. I was there for about a week.

Thanks but my hotel has already been booked for 4 nights so would prefer to do day trips out of lijiang instead

We cycled to 束河古镇. I also did the Tiger Leaping Gorge. I was there for about a week.

束河古镇 is just a short walk from my hotel so I'll probably do that. Have been to Tiger Leaping Gorge so probably won't do that unless my wife is interested.

That means u are staying at Lijiang new town? It's 4km between the Lijiang old town and Shuhe.

I'm staying at Banyan Tree Lijiang. Not too sure if that's in the new town or some ulu location

That's in the old town.

I meant Shuhe Ancient Village when I said 束河古镇. Apparently there's 3 old towns in Lijiang.

I see. I'm looking at google map and 束河古镇 corresponds to Shuhe Ancient Town. No Shuhe Ancient Village anywhere. Would you have the location please?

Too many days to chill and do nothing even though we have a pool Anyway I signed up for a day tour with Lijiang Insiders. Anyone used them before?

Just got confirmation from the folks @ Lijiang Insiders that Banyan Tree Lijiang is in Shuhe, not Lijiang itself so its a short walk to 束河古镇. Thanks for the recommendation!

I got the offer from Luxe Nomad during one of their flash sales but I don't think its still available. I do recollect Visa Infinite or Signature having a stay 3 night get 1 night free offer too. Maybe that's still available.

Has Tigerair quietly discontinued the SIN-Lijiang route? Seems that cannot book any more, but there's no announcement from Tiger

Yes they have stopped the route altogether. We took the last flight back from Lijiang on 27 Dec 2014.

If Tiger didn't priced their Lijiang tickets so costly, it would have been a popular flight/route.

The prices on a full-fledged airline with a transit is so much cheaper than the direct budget flight. The airport in Lijiang is pretty famed for bad delays. I know people whose flights have been delayed consecutively 4 times to the day after (on Chinese carriers). Go Lijiang, better to take the train from Kunming.

Yea the prices aren't cheap. I got mine at about $450/pax inclusive of luggage. A full service airline with transit would cost about there as well but add on about 2-3 hours of travel time. My return flight from Lijiang didn't delay but China carriers have slightly higher tendency to have delayed flights regardless of airport. I once waited for 3 hours for my flight from SIN to KMG on MU
