Tiger Air will be resuming their direct flights to LiJiang on April 16th 2015 and bookings for flights resume end of March '15!

Hi! They haven't released the flight schedules on Tiger's booking page yet. They will only be releasing flight schedules end of March. They have not updated me on the exact date but safe to say you can start booking from 1st April.

The first flight will be 16th April '15 at 8.30am from Singapore to Lijiang.

Kunming and Lijiang are 2 different cities. From Kunming, can take the train, bus or flight to Lijiang.

My hubby and I went to Banyan Tree Lijiang to celebrate our 10th wedding ann7versary a few years ago....went to Jade Dragon Snow mountain, saw their cultural performance and visited quaint towns....

The show is still as awesome as ever. You may want to visit them again soon. They have another side building up now for Lijiang Old Town near (East Gate) where it's a traditional entertainment hub kind of place with horse shows and stuff like that. I think will be completed 4th quarter of 2015 if I remember correctly.
And the shops in the old towns change pretty often (since new shops keep opening and closing) so there's always something new.

Hi, according to the last update on 15th Mar '15, a return ticket with 20kg check-in is RMB2200.
Of course prices are subject to change at Airline's discretion. However if you've monitored their flight prices to LiJiang in the past, the price doesn't really differ that much.

Yep, approximately there. I've always seen it range between SGD400+ to SGD500+ in the past. They don't seem to have really low rates during promotions like to other destinations. Perhaps it's because they are only ones flying direct so they don't have to.

Hmm.. I fly to LiJiang for work a couple of times a year and I've aways been blessed to get my flights from Tiger between that range. Last year when they stopped for a few months, i had to do a transit in KunMing. Total fight time including stop over took me about 7hours. Thank goodness KunMing flies every hour. And cost me SGD1k+ both ways.
I'd really like to know your cheaper alternative though (if it doesn't compromise too much of time compared to Tiger's direct 4hr flight). If it's a really good deal, then it'd be much advantage to myself and my company.

I don't think a couple of hundred for a direct 4 hour flight (return ticket) is unreasonable though, considering I had to pay $1000+ for return with transit flight. But that's just in my opinion.

Yep, it sucks. Tiger informed us AFTER informing us that routes would resume that "after careful consideration" they will NO LONGER be routing to Lijiang. We own an inn at the old town too and we were really banking on these direct flights to assist in group bookings.

Now the fastest (but way more expensive) route I've explored is Silk Air to Kun Ming then domestic to Lijiang. It takes about 6hrs+ (thank goodness KMG - LJG flights are every hour!), but the total for a return journey incl domestic is $1k+. Cheaper alternative costs $700+ (including domestic) via Air China but it takes like 9hrs for the fastest route. If you have heaps of time, you can go $400+ but 20+hrs flight coz of the long layover.

So best if you pair up the trip with other areas in China.

PS : Your friend's inn looks nice btw. I'll take a look when I go down again end of this month. Ours is in Lijiang Old Town. I've been there so many times but haven't gotten the chance to go to Shuhe yet. Will make it a point this month.

Most people would visit Dali if going to Lijiang. If not, there's the overnight train from Kunming to Lijiang.

ASA is having travel to ** for 6D5N on 9 May.

Airline: Lucky Airline (think it's a China airline)

3 Night in ** / 1 Night in Shang / 1 Night in Dali

Not bad for a short break for me.....
