woah the v2 is a big specs bump, should be a new model number :o

i guess because it came at end of ac and linksys moved to ax development, because v2 specs are what top ax routers have used
Actually not. The hardware spec is actually similar to ASUS AC5300GT version (v1 and v1.1 similar to ASUS RT AC5300). Happen to have both and ASUS continue to have FW fix especially in security area. These routers are out well before AX router is announced.

hi all am using a linksys velop mesh network at home.

I noticed sometimes my devices cannot connect to internet connecting to the main wifi but no issues if i use to connect to the guest wifi network.
anyone has any idea what could be causing this ?

I dont think i have too many devices connecting ( velop supports up to 245 devices right ). I have home automation Tuya but switches are all connected to the Zigbee hub which then connects to the node.

probably some legacy devices that solely run on 2.4ghz do not support band steering 2.4ghz & 5ghz under a single SSID name, try separate SSID names. e.g homewifiSSID2.4 & homewifiSSID5

but its my macbook that cannot connect to the wifi which is strange given that it supports 5 Ghz

strange that by default linksys set the DHCP settings to only max 50 devices so i hit the max and DHCP unable to assign new IP address.

Child nodes keep disconnecting..
hi, this started just 2 days ago. my child nodes keeps changing from green light to blue to no light, then back to green, so my wifi got interrupted every time it is not green.
i have check the linksys apps, the firmware is up to date at 2.1.20.211186.

i have tried various ways via linksys online support guide eg. https://www.linksys.com/support-article?articleNum=316682and forums leg.

It just didnt work. Now devices have to be near parent node at level in order to receive stable connection.

My velop is 3 years old. Could it be hardware issue? Or is there a firmware update that has resulted in this? i hv tried to google for firmware information Since I hv set as auto update, this update should hv taken place in Oct 22.

power supply adaptor starts to intermittently fail to supply a continuous stable DC current causing it to power off for brief 2-3 seconds?

I have the exact same issue as you and it started yesterday morning.

The only child node that is still functioning is the one on the old firmware. The rest of my child nodes are on the latest firmware and disconnect and reconnect pretty much every 30 seconds. I placed my only functioning child node (the one with the old firmware) at the exact same location as the malfunctioning nodes and the one with the old firmware works fine.

Somehow this particular node didn’t update to the latest firmware.

I wonder if it’s a firmware issue. Tried calling Linksys support and was put on hold for 1 hour. Gave up after that.
Please let me know if you manage to resolve this.

whats your old firmware number?

I contacted M1 and they have reset the modem just now. Still didnt work. They asked me to call linksys at 8001204280. As this is not a local number, I asked if it will be chargable at IDD charges, and they dont know. Whats the linksys number you called?

The old firmware number is 2.1.19.209783.

I called the same Linksys number. I believe 800 numbers are toll free.

Anyway I’m an M1 customer as well. I’m guessing something must have happened two days ago that affected us in the same way. Too many coincidences. Same problem which started at the same time, and same ISP.

I just spoke with the Linksys support team. They are aware of this issue. It’s a problem with the latest firmware. Although the firmware was released late last year, it was only pushed down to users two days ago.

The solution is this:

1. Go into your Linksys app, choose the “Network Administration” tab and turn off “HomeKit Integration”.

2. Disconnect each problematic child node, then bring it to within 1-2m of the parent node and turn on. Wait for the child node to reboot and ensure that Linksys app can detect the child node. Then turn off the child node.

3. Bring the child node back to original position and turn on. Ensure that Linksys app can detect the child node.

4. Repeat steps for the rest of the problematic child nodes.

Yup, it’s firmware 1.1.20.211186 that is causing these issues.

Now Linksys is mainly promoting the following Velop compatible AX mesh system.
https://www.linksys.com/sg/for-home/products/mesh-wifi-systems/
1) Velop MX4200 (MX4200-AH), AX4200 rated, triband

2) Atlas (MX2001-AH), AX3000 rated, dual band

3) Atlas Pro (MX5501-AH), AX5400 rated, dual band

Take note Starhub also offers MX4200 Velop (Smart WiFi Pro) and Atlas (Smart WiFi MX2).

Then they have EasyMesh compatible E-Series router (Singtel VLAN supported), not compatible with Velop.
1) E9450, AX5400 dual band
2) E8450, AX3200 dual band
3) E7350, AX1800 dual band

I am planning to have Linksys Velop AX4200 routers, please help me check whether this set up is ok or not.

ISP Modem -> Velop 1 (Storey 1) -> Velop 2 (Storey 2) -> Velop 3 (Storey 3). All these are ethernet backhaul.
In addition, I plan to place a Velop 4 (wireless) on Storey 2 at a corner because I need some ports for my devices.
Could I use a cheaper velop (eg any other wifi 5 cheaper linksys router) for Velop 4?

hi Chaps im getting a major problem with this router linksys mx4200 for the past 2 weeks and have run out of ideas
. Its dropping wifi and ethernet connectivity no matter how many times I restart the router. It provides starhub tv+ as well as Internet. I ruled out the gpon bcoz its a 2gb line and the secondary line works fine on a different router.
Calling the hotline puts me in a phone wait of more than 15mins with no one answering.
My family can't even watch TV more than 15mins for the past 2 weeks or get any work done and its very frustrating. Any advice is there a particular issue that happens to this mx4200 series? The light is permanently blue but wifi and ethernet access will get cut of. as the days go by the downtime period becomes longer before it goes up agian then goes down agian.
