Liquid cooled Vega 64

Hi gurus! Need some help and advise over here, did a installation of the custom water block for the reference Vega 64, no leaks or anything. However after booting into windows, the GPU starts to crash and won’t reboot. Have to manually shut down and restart.

Frequency is getting more and more often, stock settings still applied though, no OC is done yet..

Are your VRMs getting cooling as well or just the GPU?

Could be your VRMs overheating. Did you use back your backplate?

Using a full custom block,

Used the following picture as reference for the thermal pads

Back plate not installed, saw that the original back plate is just screwed on, don’t even have thermal pads

How did you clean it?

The HBM and interposer (fragile) very sensitive. Some sexperts say no lint free, microfiber or other cloth to scrub, old paste use something gentler like soft bristle toothbrush to dislodge before light wipe.

People have actually damaged the interposer on the fury x in the past from cleaning. Your Vega chipset got no epoxy fill layer and is uneven z height variant (not the one with silicon overfill layer shaved to even height).

So cooler mounting is a concern (less protection aside)

Used lint free, made sure to NOT apply any pressure at all when cleaning too. Experienced problem with it previously so can relate to it.

Which portion is the interposer?

If there’s an issue with the mentioned problem (HBM and interposer), shouldn’t it not even boot?

The copper coloured gap next to HBM is part of the interposer exposed.

Some Vega that past through certain test and packaging facility got black epoxy fill layer others no. Different contractor.

No idea I don't own a vega unfortunately
