UCL too high for slot
Given it's his first season at Liverpool and where the squad is basically same as when Klopp left a little early to say. I believe it'll be clearer after summer window. IMHO the team need to reach a level or 2 up. We're haven't seen what they're capable of yet.

oh definitely there will be a massive Clearance Sale.
Just sad if Virg n Mo goes, even for TAA.

I'm sad but not very. Guess the reason for me is we are very close to being EPL champions. This is most important to me though UCL champions will be a sweetener.

I'm not really a fan of subbing keepers out for penalties. Very weird to come off the bench and also makes the current keeper look a bit foolish. Worst is if lose the shootout. Just ask kepa.

Yeah man really bittersweet! i really want VVD and Mo to stay, im very sure both of them want to stay and end their career at LFC but its not up to them to decide anymore. . as for TAA he did many great things and he achieved quite something already, this kind most of them will want more money and challenges, so if he goes im ok with it and don't really feel sad.

I think we went to strong against Southampton. All our players look tired after extras time.

Even Jones and Elliott come in as Sub also look tired after 5 mins.

We try and loss on penalties. It ok . let our player rest and win our 20 league title.

For me our Champion league draw is just a joke . All this best this weekend final Cup games.

the new format really doesnt pay for finishing top of the league.
PSG is among the strongest team in the last 16.

the problem was also the PSG that started the season, is not the same PSG which improved after a few month.

Most of their defeat and bad results in the Champions League was earlier in the campaign.

thats how they finished in 15th place and Liverpool drew them.

The were a different team Decomber onwards.

Disappointed to go out at last 16,but not too sad. Can't win all the time, can't win everything.
Premier league title is the holy grail for me.
Proud of Slot and the lads. We move on!
Make us proud is all I ask for

I'm a little gutted by the defeat. If we had the right draw and luck with injuries I feel we had his chance to win it.

Given it's slot's maiden season. Guess not too bad.

I think there is little to argue abt we being 1st in CL league and Psg not.
Given the old system, we also could have drawn Psg by some weird chance. In the end, they qualified to knockout jus like us.

We lost and we are out, same as fa Cup.
We are left with a trophy and a domestic league title to win.

Buckle down, let's go.

Given a choice can only win one trophy out of the 4 , I pretty sure all here will pick winning the Premier League Title.
Even if we lost the League Cup final I will still feel more than satisfy for this season. Afterall we have won the most UCL and League Cup trophies more than any team in England.

It’s ok. Realistically it’s a tough call to win everything especially in a managers first season in a step up into a much tougher league.
We are within touching distance of securing our 20th league title. Not there yet just close. Since we are out of UCL I want us to really clinically clinch the title with some comfort. Avoid unnecessary drama. Good thing arseanal made it into quarter finals. They will have to face either Madrid in a gruelling tie and if they somehow make it PSG would be next. PSG is the in-form team and hot favourite to finally win their first UCL. This team that overcame us is miles different from the past versions. Very tough mentally they walk the talk and came thru Anfield. That’s respectable and although I typically don’t like moneybag teams that waltz their way thru farmers league, this PSG team now is more likable than the past versions, youth and exciting football (not to mention their owner doing good PR giving flowers to the 97 before the match. That’s respectful and Enrique was respectful after winning the tie so all good.

I hope we secure Slots first trophy this weekend as winning is a habit. And it eliminates questions about our mental strength. This new Liverpool team lacks that mental toughness of the previous Klopp edition. Quite evident with last seasons crumble at the end and this seasons bumpiness at times we dont look entirely convincing but good signs is that we somehow can find a way to win, the cliche of that being a hallmark of champions but thats not the main thing, the main thing is champions play with an air of inevitability. opposition gives up, u go 1 goal up they fold cos psychological barrier of them knowing they have to attack us and become vulnerable to big loss or us killing the game. so 2 things we lack:

1. A defense with zero weakness or perceived almost no weakness. all 4 are good defenders and also able to play from the back. u know who and what im driving at.
2. clinically efficient. half a chance , 1 chance they give us , we have someone supremely clinical to punish them.

in all honesty and sounding controversial, we dont have this 2 huge psychological factors even if we have salah vvd alisson. because the supporting cast's quality is a huge drop-off (not kelleher konate or gakpo, the rest)

our defense always gives opposition hope they can score. and that makes things tougher.
our attack creates alot but converts little. so give opposition hope they can hold us as long as they mark out Salah. because most of our other attacks comes thru him and our attackers and midfielders look for him.
good thing Gakpo is stepping up.

its a painful read because of the length of my post but also because of my viewpoints.
disclaimer. i recognize Salahs ability and contribution and rightly so, the numbers dont lie.
he has written himself into Liverpool folklore and history very deservedly. His numbers this season is impressive even by his standards. im more impressed with his assists key passes because that part of his game really shone this season.

it seems inevitable he gets whatever number he wants on his contract? not so.
statistics tells only half of the story.
he is our biggest attacking threat but also a double edged sword and if Slot is going to build a winning machine, his own winning machine, a dynasty even, Salah needs to go.
Team ethics. if every time he comes off for a poor showing is a putting a huge question mark for the manager
then clearly thats something not right.
although i must say he stil legit to be pissed cos he can decide the game in a moment still.

very clearly he is one of the dressing room leaders and deservedly so.
he is definitely influential and a leader the younger ones look up to
but theres too much respect
and hes is too large an ego but rightly so if ppl point out the best players/strikers/goalscorers all have some ego
CR7, Zlatan, that massive ego and confidence fuels them and as long as it benefits the team , no problem. its a fact he carried this team this year even if his numbers are boosted by penalty kicks, even his penalty kicks are getting more inevitable, that is to his credit.
regardless i want to say we have to find someone who is going to fill up his numbers if he departs thats a no brainer. but overall in any game he really is so crucial and we are so hell bent on feeding him sometimes we suffer for it. jota and nunez will look for salah even if they have ball in the box with a shooting chance. they are strikers they should be the one relishing to take any chance themselves. whether this is instructional or otherwise we wont know for sure.
but they are both not Bobby. so their play suffers. not blaming salah for this limitation but i like to see a bigger spread of the goal threat and truth be told as effectively as salah is. its becoming predictable. if im an opposition coach my priority is to shut out our right wing and attack our right side.

if im FSG / edwards/ hughes im very clear trent can go.
he is also abit like salah , influential and gets alot of benefit of the doubt. for an attacker to blow hot n cold is bad enough. for a defender fame for his passing range and deliveries, his passing has been atrocious this season. choosing a hard option loosing the ball get counter attack. zero recovery pace.

salah can go only IF we can secure another reliable goal source. i suspect Slot / Hughes is looking for a 9
not a like for like right winger.
but stil they will get a right winger but they will surely get a reliable 9
which means

nunez is gone already surely as much as i supported him because of his work ethic. but this season he regressed. not an age where u can say he has potential anymore. has the physical attributes. pace, height, strength, aggression. technically he isnt that poor. look at his assists from last season, the killer pass were usually well weighted. its his mental strength that is a let down, that affect his decision making and composure.
for his own good he needs to play elsewhere. i say even if he goes to a mid table EPL Team he could explode.
cos he is actually well suited to EPL but in a team that relies on counterattack not a tiki taka team.

diaz can go too to barca
if thats where he wants to go eventually.
at that age where u need to move them on. wont get any better

jota same age as diaz
also regressed. too injury prone.
was superbly clinical now he lost that edge and instinct

but diaz jota are stil quality compared to many options in the market
and investment wise, the frontline isnt in need of a major shakeup bar Salah
its either we tie him down on a new contract or we find a replacement.
Gakpo place is safe
Space to watch

it sounds doom and gloom for a team marching to a title win right
but this is what we didnt do after the last title win
sucession planning. re-lookin objectively at squad needs, overall system and parts
and investing wisely and getting good deals for outgoing players in return
(the last part im sure we will improve cos Edwards is back)

Midfield we have a good core.
Szobo Macca Grav all 3 can get even better.
I hope Endo stays. superb professional and good role model for squad players
i stil hope Bacjectic can come good and come back and succeed Endo eventually.
the kid can play but also perhaps mentality is the block.
Jones and Elliot are good squad players. and quota needs them

Defence is actually the most urgent.we need a ** regardless if VVD leaves and we need a younger one but with huge upside potential.
and fullbacks. Robbo Trent Tsimi are the weakest links. more of the first choices.
Only Bradley is safe.
leftback look at Nuno Mendes. see how he shut out salah
we are missing fullbacks like that.
out of our options we only have Bradley remotely similar. aggressive, pacy, young, can defend (need improving also but he will get better, but his slide tackle on mbappe is a good indicator. confident and brave enough to try it and composed and capable enuff to pull it off. trent would be jogging behind mbappe btw not questioning his professionalism but cos even if he tries his best to defend , he will be caught too far forward and too slow to recover in time to slide tackle, doubt he will even opt to do that. he is too fixated on playing "elegant"

GK department is fine. we have 2 good options
mamar is off form this season but i think its normal. heart not there already.
he will pick up when he joins us n even if he dont, ali and kelleher are reliable

btw not looking for argument
but i think bros here are open minded enough to disagree but also accept different unconventional even controversial viewpoints.

not slating salah or even trent
of cos great servants of the club and will go into history books for us
especially salah. but looking objectively we need to evolve and as cruel as it sound, move on eventually
and if we have replacements lined up to take on the next evolution. why not.

because as good as he is, giving a big contract to a player this age can be a risk.
but of cos we seen it backfire example pirlo let go from milan and proving them wrong at juve
salah will probably still be effective and contributing the most G+A , not betting against it but just concerned of our over reliance on 1 player more than anything. everyone needs to step up and seize the opportunity to shine, not hide in salahs shadows.

im just adopting a wider viewpoint and gut feeling from their body language and etc.
i might be wrong and often when i criticize players i hope to be proven wrong :D

but i think new manager coming in winning the league in first season is amazing achievement and we dont want to undermine him and he has earn the right to build and mould the team in his vision
and evolution is a natural unavoidable process. i suspect management had this in mind , otherwise its too coincidental and careless to allow 3 key players contracts to run out

u can disagree but dont bash me ok :D

Wah!!!! Lonnngggg time nv see wall of texts XD

imo both slot and klopp first season are somewhat similar. Both are required to solidify the current squad and improve existing players, with little to zero transfer budget.

Interesting to see how Slot will build his own team for the next 3-4 years

League 1 has winter break off 2 weeks around Christmas and new year. Given most top tier players play through almost the entire summer break, a decent winter break should be very helpful.
