I was just wondering, what is the difference between local and private uni when you are out in the work force?

I mean if u graduate from private uni you just need 2 yrs if u calculate the school fees and time, it is better than local uni. So is there a difference in treatment or pay in the workforce or something ? :/

Sad_boi was right. government sect is more on paper rather than experienced. while private they are more hunger for experienced person.degree is a stepping stone for u to ask for higher pay.

i am from informatics academy, both my dip and degree are taken from there. just graduate last nov and i am working in a jap company with starting pay of 1.9 at probation and 2.3 for now. i am a fresh grad with zero experience

No matter where u go its more of the experience.
No experience only can depend on paper, good paper open doors which private DL degree could dream of.

Getting any job isn't the issue, getting a dream job that pay the big is the qns. Most ppl fit into any job CAT but at least local has a fighting chance with certain jobs where doors are shut tight on DL grads.

If u have connections or lobang no need to do local, DL will do just fine.

Paper chase DL can limit your options with top uni.

Think for a sec, why are your fellow COM holders mostly going for local and not DL? They didn't exercise their brain just blindly follow the crowd?

imo, some private unis in sg are good for some fields (eg business), but definitely not for psychology. the lack of psych research exposure in private unis will be detrimental if you are planning to apply to grad school.

Apologies for cross-posting. I'm wondering if anyone here would be available and willing to help me with a research i'm conducting on private degree students in Singapore.

I previously opened a thread on this, details on the project could be found here: forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/degree-programs-courses-70/private-degree-students-what-do-you-have-say-4321438 *dot* html

Would really appreciate help from here... :)
