lock apps

using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock for years but doesnt fully support jb, sometimes screen will auto on

any better screen lock apps to recommend?

Shouldn't have problem, I'm using it with Jellybean 4.1.2, 4.2.2 to
4.3.1, all working well.

Anyway you can go over to Playstore and try any of these till
you find one that is suitable for you:

for me, problem arise only when you use no security aka swipe unlock

I just tried with swipe unlock, working too.

Maybe go to setting, go to "Enable this option to avoid lock
screen reappear after locking (For Android 4.0.4-4.1.2 only)",
try check Use relock workaround 1 or Use relock workaround 2.
