It’s an exciting day for Logitech G. We just acquired the Saitek brand and the Saitek line of flight, farm and space simulation game controllers. They’re the go-to products for anyone into games like Elite Dangerous, Eve Valkyrie, Star Citizen, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Farm Simulator.

There’s a whole list of reasons why this makes us excited…

First, these products are just great. We know a thing or two at Logitech about what makes a gaming product stand out and these products deliver exceptional experiences. Don’t take our word for it – we’ve seen the Saitek fans on the forums.

Second, simulation games are cool and getting cooler. Whether you’re into driving, flying or exploring space, there are fresh new titles available and more to come. Some of these titles are even VR enabled and we believe that dedicated controllers will stimulate and enhance the total VR experience.

Last and most importantly, we’re excited to be a bigger part of the simulation community. We already make gaming wheels for the driving simulation market and this new line of products will provide an even more complete experience. We care about this space and want to do right by its fans. Saitek, the makers of a great many switch-covered peripherals for controlling planes, trains, and and automobiles, have been sold for $13 million (about £10 million) in cash. Saitek was owned by fellow controller company Mad Catz, who bought them in 2007, but now they march under the banner of peripheral giants Logitech. (I recommend Saitek’s Pro Flight™ Rudder Pedals for marching simulators – the differential braking really sells the footfeel.)

Logitech pick up the Saitek brand and their lines of flight, farming, and space controllers, along with equipment and data that went into making them. Eight Saitek research & development folks have joined Logitech too.

Mad Catz are keeping the keyboards, mice, and other bits that they put out after picking up Saitek, mind. It’s always awkward, that post-breakup division of possessions. Neither Mad Catz nor Logitech have publicly declared who got the crockery, the TV, the fondue pot that was technically given as a Christmas present to both of them, nor the half-dead peace lily in the kitchen.

Last time I had their gamepad and joystick. Joystick used to play mechwarrior I think haha

Thrustmaster is a better choice.

I used to have their joystick for flying in BF3/4. can't remember the model. Worked ok, no issues. Wanted to get a new flight stick in anticipation of Star citizen release from them recently but the reviews on the new saitek flight sticks are terrible...hopefully logitech fixes the quality

Thrustmaster is a better choice.

I think with the acquisition Logitech can fight Thrustmaster on all fronts

Sure their G29 can't probably fight against something like the T500RS but they are pretty durable workhorses

I bought their game pad before. Not bad, as it has a lot of buttons yet at a fraction of the price compared to an equivalent Logitech with less buttons.
