Any feedback on Cathay? Their economy seats comfy? Food good? Entertainment good?

I don't know whether CX is still using their horrible "slide to recline" fixed back seats for long haul. I had this seat in 2010 on a flight to USA and it was torture. Recently, I again had this kind of seat on CX but it was for a regional flight.

What is slide to recline?

My transit from hkg to US is 1 hour. Wonder if it's too short a transit :( But too late liao la.. bought the tickets already.

Slide to recline typically means that your seat slide forward, bringing the bottom of the seat back forward, giving you the recline. This also usually means that the seatback does not move backwards, so to have a full recline, it will eat into your leg room significantly.

1hr should be fine, especially if you are on one ticket, they will put you on the next flight if you miss your connecting flight. HKG transit security quite efficient. Just that you would not have time to shop around HKG or enjoy lounge (if you have access).

Lately CX seems to be going downhill in terms of reliability. On a recent trip to Taiwan via HKIA, all 4 flight segments were delayed, longest was over an hour.

Sometimes it can be due to ATC as well.

Depends on aircraft scheduling, if it is the same plane for SIN - HKG and HKG - TPE, the HKG - TPE would definitely be delayed. Also, if there are many connecting passengers, they might also delay the HKG - TPE flight to take in all the passengers from SIN - HKG, and vice versa. You should be glad you make your connection despite the delay, instead of having to spend 1 night at HKG and waste your bookings/planned itinerary in TPE further. There might be other flights to accommodate too.

For example, I was on UA NRT - SFO. There are only 2 UA flights a day for that day. The first flight was cancelled due to non-operational plane. I was on the second plane and our flight was delayed to accommodate as many passengers from the previous flight if possible. Similarly, previously due to H1N1, incoming flight LAX - NRT was delayed, plus they boarded and checked all passengers' body temperature before allowing all the disembark, so taking much longer than usual. In the end, I disembarked at around the departure time for the NRT - SIN. They delayed the flight slightly for all passengers on these incoming flights.

No more liao. Cx has transferred these old seats to their regional aircraft

Is weather reason I guess. Especially during this time frame.

Yes, cushion is not so good. But better then those used in SIA A380.
One good thing for this kind of seat is you are not affected by people in front especially during meal time.

Another good thing is power point all at the front and is easy to access.
