Long press button to switch on PC

Hi guys, recently I'm facing some issues turning on my PC (about 5-6 yrs old). When it was brand new, just press the button once and turn on liao. Now have to long press it or press multiple times then will switch on.

Anyone face similar issues before? I'm wondering if it's the casing related where the switch contact points are not so good anymore or it's related to PSU.

Need some advice. Thanks!

You can test this by shorting the Power+ and Power- pins on the front panel connectors of the MB i.e. use a screwdriver tip to join the two pins. If the PC powers on easily, then it is a casing problem else PSU.

(Of course, if your PC has a power button on the button, you should use that instead.)

Using NZXT H500. Normally system will power up on first press.

Most prob the power button got issue. Like someone said, you can test it by shorting the pins for PWR+ and PWR- but requires you open up your case and locate the pins. If works in one try means your power button has issues then try to see if can get the parts from NZXT to replace yourself.

Most prob dirt has accumulated on the power button metal contacts, try spraying contact cleaner or alcohol to clean it.

The power button on the case has degraded. Also happened to my case, I soldered a new switch and replaced it, no more problems.

I wrote in to nzxt for my old case and they shopped a button module foc to me before.

Go Sim Lim Tower and get a can of contact cleaner. If you know how to take out the switch, bring it along and shop for a new switch. It's a lot cheaper than a new case.

TS can go BIOS to change the power setting to automatically turn on when there is power.
I did this for my computer, don't even need to press power button, just switch on the power socket and my computer will power on by itself.
