The last time I sent my car for VICOM inspection was about 3 years ago. The queing time for car to be inspected if I recall is about 30-40 minutes with 3 cars in front of me in the queue. Today I went to send my car for inspection at VICOM Yishun at about 1pm. There was a longer queue of about 10 cars in front of me. After waiting for almost 30 minutes, the queue only cleared 2 cars. I had to attend to some issues so I drove off. I thought the queue was because I came during lunch hour. I came back again at about 4 pm and the queue is just as bad, This time after 15 mins of waiting and I do not see the queue moving I drove off. 2 cars in front of me also did the same. My question is whether this queue is normal? Or is it the time of the year most people send their car for inspections? How about other VICOM centres? Any better?

You want to beat the queue, you go right when they open at 8am (before 9am).

Any other timing, just be prepared to wait.

Tried my luck again at about 12 noon as I was passing through that area, This time queue is shorter, 6 cars in front of me. Noticed that there are 3 "lanes" -- 1 for taxi's/small trucks, 1 for cars and 1 for "express lane". The "express lane" is closed. So basically for cars there is only 1 queue. Completed everything in 2 hours including queue time. The technician told me to try Sin Ming branch next time. Clearance is faster there. Its kinda slow just to only have 1 technician per queue to manage the whole process, except the undercarriage checks. There were 2 cars in front of me that did not pass the test. For one of the car, the technician spent about 10 minutes having to clarify the problem. The rest of the cars behind just got held up when they could have run through the other tests -- lights, engine, brakes, etc. Perhaps other centres manage the queue and job better.

In Jurong. There are 2 . STA near Jurong point and JIC at pioneer road. I feel the JIC pioneer has lesser car in the queue .

Was at Sin Ming in May, went in morning about 8.50, finished about 9am.

The past few times I went all Sin Ming, pretty fast, 10am+. Went once at Kaki Bukit, ok la 30mins. Jurong's one very fast also but very far to drive to.

This is worse than ERP. One of the most useless company setup just to take more money . Is not a yearly check and inspect things that could fail within 6 months . Checked for modifications? Most ppl who modify will change back after inspection . so what’s the point
Why don’t they just take my $80 so I don’t have to waste my life queueing
