Style? Formal? Diver? Pilot? Others?

Display? Analog? Digital?

Movement? Automatic? Quartz?

Functions? With date? No date? Chronograph?

If automatic, take a look at the seiko 5 range then.

I'll suggest Orient bambino if u don't mind leather strap.

There are too many seiko 5 out there, u need to go down to a physical store to take a look at them.

Mustafa is a good start, stocking all 3 of the brands.

If u are brand conscious, perhaps swiss watch will be more appropriate.

Out of the 3, perhaps Seiko is perceived as the better brand? There seems to be a hype over grand seiko recently.
After all, they do have watch that cost over 300k under their credor branding.

Citizen too have their chronomaster line (renamed to The Citizen) and campanola, orient with orient star, and royal orient which cant be found locally.

I've a piece of Orient star retrograde, like it a lot, seems to be the most affordable mid teir automatic japaness watch?

You can get nice Emporio Amani watches at <$200 online. Alternatively can try Skagen, or French connection, if bored with the usual Casio, Seiko or Citizens.

Probably K2 or mustafa?

I'm not really sure, but mustafa is definitely a good place to look at watches, they have a large collection of watches.

e.g if seiko sea urchin is 300+ at city chain then if at k2 or mustafa , would it be cheaper ? by how much ? (example only)

I think u should be able to grab them around 200, Seiko 5 shouldn't be that over 250 unless they are limited edition?

Seiko 5 are supposedly the cheapest automatic line Seiko offers, some are below 100 bucks.

You can check prices out skywatches website, they are pretty cheap there, but mostly grey set though.

Not sure on that. I know k2 sells grey set too, but k2 provide 1yr in house warranty.

I bought a Seiko monster on rubber strap from k2 at only 250, 300+ for sea urchin is really ridiculous... :s22::s22::s22:

Just go bencoolan and look see buy lor! Can try until your arms hurt also! :)

Also, for formal watch, leather strap looks better than bracelet. Eg:
