Want to build a computer for gaming and work purposes. Looking for a middle-end build for me to play most games. Need not be on high settings. My budget is around $1000 overall. Can someone advice me on what parts to choose?

The hard part to answer your question is the "play most games" portion. There are certain games that are demanding, and some that are light

So to answer your question
Games like CSGO / Dota2 / L4D2 are not so demanding on the system and you can get away with a graphic card that is not high end ie.: 750 / 950 / 1050.

Games like Destiny 2 / PUBG / Skyrim / Fallout 4 are considered demanding and they will usually need a graphic card that costs about $300 ( The GTX1060 is the most bang for buck graphic card at the moment, considering your budget )

But general rule of thumb

I5 / I7 preferable
8gb ram ( this is a must )
Graphic Card <= This is a must for games....

Then pick your poison for the monitor keyboard and mouse

Entry level PC build for gaming and work

I don't know anything about building a PC so I need help with choosing parts.

My Budget is around 1k not inclusive of monitor screen and keyboard.

Mostly play games like Dota, Overwatch, Skyrim, Borderlands and some other games. I watch quite a bit of YouTube and movies online.

Looking for the PC to run smoothly and last for the next few years.

Can someone recommend me what build I should get and what parts to choose? Brand new to building a PC.

1K is very limited budget for the type of PC you wish to build. At least 1.5K to 1.7K...

That will give you a good R5-1600 and GTX 1060 which will last you for years...

maybe u can find him 1 stick of 8GB ba, and maybe change to r3 and gtx 1050 for him. since he is in tight budget. i rather he continue playing those esports games than those AAA title games. (maybe like this can hit 1k?

TS can check out my post, around 1K. Take note, there's no storage as I'm reusing an old SSD. But that budget can be taken from the Keyboard and Mousepad...
