Hi guys, so last year I made a thread looking for help on upgrading and I got my CPU+Mobo, RAM and OS changed. This time however, I'm conducting the second phase of my PC upgrading. The core components to be changed would be the GPU and PSU, and if it falls within my budget I can consider between another RAM stick, case change, optical drive replacement or a HDD upgrade.
Currently, my PC specs are as follows:
CPU: Intel Pentium G2020
Mobo: Gigabyte B75M-D3V
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 310 (OEM)
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws-X 1333Mhz 4GBx1
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 250GB (7200rpm)
Optical Drive: Lightscribe DVD/DVD+RW (No longer works)
Casing: Stock Casing (From HP Compaq)
PSU: Hipro 300W (Stock PSU)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
I've been doing some research but with the recent introduction of new GPU, I'm caught up in a bind as to which GPU should i get. Another problem lies with which PSU to get as my old PSU is approximately 6-7years old. I believe it had suffered from degradation due to aging and thus it can be quite risky to continue using it with a new GPU.
Now, the purpose of this computer is basically for casual gaming on games such as DOTA2/POE and the upcoming PSO2. It is also for leisure purposes such as watching videos, movies, internet surfing and etc all on an occasional basis.
For the upgrades, my budget lies between $200-$250 (which is rather tight).
