Good day everyone, was recommended by my friend to visit here for suggestions regarding my PC.

I'm looking to upgrade my motherboard as its the oldest one out of all but if there's any recommendation to upgrade other stuff I'll take into consideration as well. Budget is at $1000 for maximum expenses.
I'm not familiar with the PC building, only change the monitor recently.
Currently, I mainly play Black Desert Online Taiwan and it's fps and times that I freeze to load the environment is increasing.

Current Spec:

Monitor: LG 24GM77-B
Mobo: ASrock H77 Pro4/ MVP
CPU: Intel Core i5 3470
GPU: NVIdia GeForce GTX 970
Memory: DDR 3 8 GB
probably no SSD. Been awhile, Receipt is missing for me to check

Thank you in advance for any kind soul that is free to help!

As your game isn't very graphically demanding (I assume), increased loading times could be due to the lag of memory/storage.

You might want to consider getting an ssd and/or a hdd upgrade, as well as a ram upgrade to maybe a ddr4 16gb ram set. If you're not looking to play more graphically demanding games, your 970 should still be more than sufficient for over 80fps.

However, if you're looking to playing modern AAA games or want to maximise your 144hz monitor, you could look into upgrading your gpu.

$1000
Ddr4 2133 16gb -$200
250gb ssd -$259
Sell gtx 970 +$250
Prices are approximate but you should have about $800 left to spare on a gpu which can almost get you a gtx 1080 but it really depends on your needs.

If you upgrade your motherboard, there could be potentially compatability issues. Would help if you listed other games you play as well as what you would want to do on your pc. (Work etc)

For the building part you'll have to consult @singupingu ;)

SSD will help the load times. You can try putting that in first, if you need more performance then proceed to upgrade Mobo+CPU+RAM as that will take up the bulk of the cost which you might not need

Your 970 performance is similar to 1060, so still a decent card. Not sure about graphical requirements of BDO though

Ts, you should check the temps of CPU and GPU first using something like hwmonitor. May be your hardware just getting thermal throttled if got a lot of dust in the case.
iirc the cities in BDO are the ones that are CPU based but I'm not sure if the game favours higher core count or higher IPC

If you don't want to reduce settings can sell your gtx 970 and upgrade to a 1070 or even 1080 to get higher fps outside of the city areas.

Increasing load times can be due to the game being installed on a hdd. Might need a big SSD for that depending on what else u wanna store along with BDO and the OS.

If wanna upgrade CPU then try to find a second hand i7 3770k + CPU cooler like cryorig H5 Universal.
It's still a very decent CPU and your Mobo can overclock it.
Else you can go for R5 1600 with the b350 gaming k4 from ASRock + any compatible ddr4 2400mhz and above ram kit.

For SSD can go for any 250/500gb from reputable brands depending on your storage needs.

Wah.. I'm honored you specifically mentioned me lol.

I'd follow the advice of dgenex and mastersyong. Cheapest is get ssd. Suggest getting PNY CS1311b 512GB SSD. About $219 based on PC Themes price list. Can try hunt at Lazada or Qoo10 to stack online discounts. Also the included migration/cloning software is pretty good.

Sent from PM me if you wanna build a DIY PC or wanna learn how to make one yourself :D using GAGT
