Care to share why you deem this Cert as wasting time? I am planning to go for it after I settle on my CCNP due to work requirement. I am more on network security field and a lot of my friends is going for this cert.

Is CISSP certification worth the effort?

personally, I find that CISSP adds on nothing to individual's experience and skill set. at best, it only allow people who are new to infosec field to learn a common lingo so that it can facilitate the understanding of certain terms used by info sec professionals.
maybe that's why they require someone to have at least 5 years of experience.. but from the way I look at it, it's quite easy to bluff your way across.

I would say, taking certifications is to show to your potential employers that you are upgrading your skill sets constantly.

A lot of the questions are scenario-based and the choices will all seem to be correct. Getting the "right" answer will require some form of judgement. That is why it is recommended to have some experience in IT Security before taking CISSP
