From basic, to diploma, to degree. Is there a course for it? Is cybersecurity is in demand in Singapore?

Certificate - diploma - degree
Very broad question and dependent on your time horizon. Immediately, demand is definitely there.

If younger, diploma first then degree, finally certificates. some of the degree do include various certificates as well.

IF you are already working, possibly try for security certificates or some night diploma/degree.

Did you manage to decide on which course to go for yet? I am currently looking out for such courses as well.
Looking to transition into cybersecurity. I've been researching various courses and some of the courses I've shortlisted include options from:

Vertical institute cybersecurity course
Temasek poly online course for fundamentals of cybersecurity and applications
MDIS Higher Diploma in Information Technology and Cybersecurity

My top pick now is vertical institute cause I heard good things from friends and it is online and shorter. Would such courses help with career switch to this industry and any advice on the above institutions?

course give you knowledge but i dun really see any one got hire because he/she went to some local institue or done some local course.

to be honest, i personally find degree and poly cert also quite useless because alot of the secuity people from the cyber firm i join was not even from cyber background one. if you don't believe me, just go linkedin and look at the cyber security people degree.

if you want a job then certicate is the most straight forward thing to do unless you are doing those client facing related work then presentation and talking skill will be very important.

Career switcher into cybersecurity here. Just sharing my response from another thread below. Good luck!

I took the Vertical Institute cybersec Bootcamp. Very highly recommended to get your feet wet into cybersecurity.
They also have job placement assistance and some of my classmates got linked up with employers post-course.

You’re right that it’s shorter (~3.5 weeks) and ya fully online via Zoom with instructor and teaching assistants. Most importantly it’s also cheaper compared to other schools (after skillsfuture subsidy I didn’t pay anything). Everyone I know who took a VI course before highly recommends it.

My instructor was this cybersecurity god that has like 1 million followers on his YouTube showing hacking stuff.

Various degree or diploma for cyber from local U also recog but everyone who grad from the course also have it and some of them is still jobless. Cyber and IT grad is everywhere.

If only the cert is very hard to get and very famous then i think it will impact your employer decision to hire you.

How about getting CISSP or OWSP? Easier to get jobs with that cert?

i think it mostly depend if the hiring manager think those are the good cert that they want. Different Bosses had different preferences.

Otherwise, maybe the company you interviewed won a job that required a certain cert then maybe the company will look for a certain cert.

Finally, the other candidate that is fighting with you for that position, maybe they hold more cert, working experience and asked for a lower expected pay.

There is a lot of factor to see ba.
