Looking for Specific VOIP app

Hi,
I will be based overseas for a while, and am looking for a phone app( or apps) with specific call routing uses.

1) Outgoing call.
Years back was using Hoiio.
They allow out going call via VOIP at cheap rates.
Most important, they allow you to select to show your registered Singapore telco number as caller ID, so the receiving person will know it is you. Best.

Calling overseas was also very very cheap.

Hoiio has since stopped their consumer products and gone full B2B.

Any suggestion for replacement.

2) Incoming calls.
Is there any good and efficient way to divert my incoming calls to my SGP telco number via VOIP, which I can then receive overseas easily via an app or even overseas registered number.
I don't expect it to be free, but will definitely be cheaper than roaming costs.


Any guru can help?

you can look at pfingo. some phones support sip which you can configure to receive and make calls using a local number.

Pfingo stopped since last year.
Toku geared towards commercial entities...

I miss hoiio

The parent company is actually shutting down pfingoTalk by end June 2019 and moving customers to TokuWorld platform. Heard this from Toku Sales rep.

Sigh.
Toku seems to be geared towards b2b.
Seems like no option for consumers now

Outgoing call can use skype.. incoming call is tricky. Need to buy those call forwarding service. So you forward your singapore no to another singapore no which again forward to global no at discounted rate.

Something just crossed my mind. How about MyRepublic Talk app? AFAIK, their cheapest monthly plan is S$18. If your main mobile is not in contract you can consider porting over to them. If not, can take up a new line and forward your current mobile number to your MyRepublic line where you can receive calls over the app.

https://mobile.myrepublic.com.sg/roaming/talk

Receive incoming calls via the app (deducted from your monthly airtime)
Make outgoing calls at a predetermined rate.

This could be just what I am looking for.
No extra costs too since I need too since I need to pay monthly to maintain my number anyway.

Any idea how the app works for incoming call?
Just like Whatsapp and wechat running in the background? Hopefully app is optimized and does not sap battery life.

If I call back Singapore, my Sgp number will also show up on the caller ID?

Haven't tried this before, but from what I understand the app allows you to select whether Incoming calls get forwarded to the app (MyRepublic Talk) and/or to the SIM card. It should work like WhatsApp (just make sure you turn off power optimisation for the app).

It should display your SGP number as Caller ID. Better to check with MyRepublic support on this :)

how about telnyx or avoxi, prices seem cheaper than plivo for singapore

Tried. It’s great!

Do take note MyRepublic voice need to pay 5cents a min calling back to sg(outgoing on app). Incoming is free (on app). Able to port in and able to trigger routing incoming calls to app, you can disable it and call will still come in on standard roaming calls. Normally when overseas, I can always answers the call free from the app. Cheapest plan is $18 now.

On the other hand TPG voice app (new telco). It’s app is free For incoming and outgoing calls (for 6 months). You may Sign up their free plan for now. However your phone line need to be off before able to receive call on the app as the telco is still new hence Might not be stable.

Both need Decent internet connection.

Use any SIP trunking app with Twilio numbers. I have 16 numbers from 16 countries theat people can dial into locally and it gets routed to my phone.
