Hello,

would you by chance still be studying?
It's alittle hard to get the warranty you require (3 to 5 years) at the price given but if you have a next of kin who is still studying you maybe able to purchase a laptop during their poly / uni roadshow - without any of the school's software suites - for that price.

Apart from that, there are certain models of Asus zenbooks (UX305CA)using Core M processors that are around the sub 1000 range - they will have no problem handling daily tasks and not so intensive game titles in low to med settings - but unfortunately have only 1 year of warranty.

Having said that, I would not recommend gaming on the zenbook as it is "fanless"

Cheers

If you need at least 3yrs warranty covered, maybe you can try asking poly students to get for you this coming Mar when all the polys are offering their new student. Of course if you know any of them who is on their 2nd year. Not sure if new student can purchase 2 laptops.

I think need to look at business laptops for 3 year warranty.

Consumer laptop warranty mostly 1 to 2 year max.

Some complaints I heard from others online in the past:

1) Not durable or long lasting. Breaks down or overheat easily before or once warranty expires.

2) Body made of thin/flimsy material compared to some other brands. Easy to bend, break or crack.

Not my personal experience though.

Since this got digged up, I would like to clarify this misinformation.

All UX series comes with 2 years warranty, and are not designed for gaming; with exception of UX303 and UX501.

Thanks for the clarification :)
Mods do make mistakes too haha!

Yup they are indeed not for gaming. Would like to add on and clarify specifically on the last line to my earlier statement typed via mobile - fanless laptops in general rids heat passively through its design. It is capable but if its main purpose is to game it is not the right model to be purchased.

Cheers

Not true. I have purchased about 10 Acer laptops since 2011 until 2014. I buy only the entry level models, 15.6 inch, 14-inch and 11.6 inch laptops. They are lasting, at least 3-4 years of service. And they don't break easily.
