Hi,

Budget $1600, looking for an ultrabook i5, 4gb that is as light and slim as possible. Long battery life is also good.

Basically I am trying to decide if I should get an ultrabook or a Surface Pro 4 with the same specs. The surface pro 4 is quite light and has a tablet mode with pen which is useful. Would an ultrabook be able to beat that at the same price level?

Thanks for the reply. The Surface Pro 4 is 1.05kg with keyboard cover, @$1599. So its $200 more expensive but lighter and slimmer.

However, the zenbook has a larger screen (13.3 vs 12.3) and claims 12 hr battery life vs 9 hrs for the Surface Pro 4.

Hmm..it's a tough choice whether the tablet form factor is worth it or not.

Surface Pro 4 has the advantage that it is entirely made by MS - Hardware and software...becoming like Apple products. So i have more confidence in after sale service and it having less major issues unresolved.

Recently saw a very nice HP ultrabook in stores...aluminum body, skylake processor, 3200 x 1800 IPS display, 1.36KG, got fingerprint reader....at $1399.
The display is really beautiful and sharp...but no touchscreen nor pen input.

They also got i7 Model with 256GB SSD at $1699..

Intel® Core™ i5-6200U Processor with Intel® HD Graphics 520 (2.3 GHz, up to 2.8 GHz, 3 MB cache, 2 cores)Windows 10 Home 64 13.3"8 GB LDDR3 SDRAM (onboard)128 GB M.2 SSD

Personally uses a Surface Pro 3, and like what rach said, it was free of manufacturer bloatware, driver/firmware/bios all controlled by Windows Update so no need worry about any driver issues...
