Hi guys, looking to upgrade a few parts of my rig, especially my motherboard, Processor and RAM as I've been experiencing some problems with them recently. GPU should be fine, using a MSI GTX970.

Anyone got suggestions on what mobo & cpu & RAMs would be worth the upgrade?

Also, any other suggestions for parts that I should/could upgrade at the same time? Kinda wanna upgrade my HDD & maybe even SSD (not sure if it's worth it though) too.

Overall budget try not to exceed $1000 I guess. Looking to get parts that will be able to last me for quite awhile.

Thank you in advance! :s12:

Kopi Lake should be out in October so if you wish to stick with Intel, you might want to wait awhile.

If you are going with Ryzen, there are some Ryzen promos now (ending very soon) so you might want to check out the Ryzen threads.

Definitely get an SSD. Best quality of life improvement for your system.

What do you use it for?

i5-3550 is still a strong processor. 8gb total system ran should still be fine for most games. GTX 970 is great for the current 1080p resolution.

You can always add 2 more sticks of ram to make it 16 gb.[Carousell] - $50

For SSD, Samsung 850 Evo SATA 250gb is just nice for OS and some games. - $139
