Hello All,

I am looking forward to purchase a Used Server (Rack Mount or Tower) for my Home lab. Is it not good to run Rack Mount Server at home ? I am looking at some deals in ebay , i cant afford a brand new server. Is there any place in singapore i can buy used servers? My budget is around $500 for Xeon Based System with 32GB of RAM.

Please let me know what you think...

Thanks

Wa don't count the Xeon and mobo, the ram itself would have already cost $300 plus... Oh and even second hand De also quite hard at that price point...

I bought my new HP Microserver Gen 8 with 3 yrs warranty for $850 but you need to look for a HP reseller to quote you.

I also bought a HP PS1810-8G managed switch that sit nicely on top of the server for $350 too.

I took out the lousy Intel Pentium G2020T processor and upgrade it to a Intel Xeon 1265Lv2 and also took out the 2GB memory and install 16GB of Kingston ECC memory into it too.

I bought an used HP P212 Smart Array controller off eBay for $99 and used it to create a Raid 5 array for my 4 x WD 3TB HDDs that I bought from SLS for $145 each.

I installed a 32GB micro-SD card inside it and is running VMware ESXi 5.5 without any problems too.

Looking for Used Server

This is ridiculous. I'm here since the start of HWZ can really say it's getting worse.

My suggestion to your warning message is* remove all the necessary messages it's so messy and hard to read. All I see was the warning for post not the signature. Less is more?

Thanks for the co-operation in removing the advertising signature.

Try harder to mislead fellow member on the signature warning.

Full message clear enough, if you failed to comprehend the warning message, don't try to act innocent. :)

I will agree with you if it appears like your screen. Nothing to act innocent if you can't take constructive feedback.
