Looking to build new rig

As you can see my rig on the right, it's already been 5 years since my last upgrade.

My current rig starting to give me some issue now, so I'm thinking to do a upgrade on a budget of about 1k. not now, maybe next month? doing some planning now. see if my current pc can still be salvage.

Been out of touch of the hardware scene for a long time, so do recommend me the best setup I can get with the budget.

I don't really do gaming, so just a decent one will do but not too lousy just in case that I may want to play some game in future. But definitely not looking at playing max settings kind. maybe somewhere around 200+ price range? would that be good enough?

I would like to have SSD included in my setup as well, 128GB should be sufficient but how much is the price differ from 128 and 256? and since right now that amazon is having free shipping. would it be wise to get from amazon? would there be warranty issue?

can my PSU still be re-used?

I will keep my HDD as my secondary storage, so I don't need to get any HDD. I already have 2x1TB and 1x500GB. one of them seem to be start failing though.

I probably won't be doing OC now.. thinking should I get 212 plus. how's the temp for cpu nowadays? still running hot like old days even on normal load? my pc would be placed on living room without aircon and such. pretty warm..

I need casing as well, but do not need OS.

Ok, most probably i would recommend you getting everything as a new set. Except the HDD since it is able to be reused and you are gonna use SSD for all the softwares loaded into it.

hmm, I added everything (with 256 ssd) and cost 1104. why you counted 1069 without dvd and ssd? isn't dvd rom just 20 odd bucks?

for casing, i think i may get sharkoon t28 instead..

Most likely you were using the pricelist of a different shop than the one he was using. And yes, DVD internal drives should be selling for $25 now.

CPU temps for IB and Haswell will be fine if you're not OC-ing.

I will build from PCT as I always have. they have excellent service, and after sales service.

how much is a 212 plus? 49 or 69? can't really stand the idea of using a stock fan.

how's Asrock similar model as compared to this MSI? I see alot of people seem to be recommending Asrock..

Asrock is fine too; you'd get $2 savings if buying their B85M-Pro4 instead of the MSI.

The 212 Plus isn't on sale anymore; CM now has the 212 Evo which sells for $59 at PCT.

For Haswell, a lot of the heat is trapped under the IHS (integrated heat spreader) covering the actual die due to the use of TIM now instead of solder. And since you won't be overclocking, really no need to get 3rd party HSF.

If I go for 128 SSD I would be in range of my budget, but if I go for 256, need to take up additional 110 bucks. should I get 256? i kinda know that i will probably use up 128 pretty fast.

I don't need to get K CPUS, non-K are good enough.

4570 has higher clocks (200MHz more @ stock & 400MHz more @ Turbo boost). It's also got the vPro and TSX techs included (not that I know what those do )

Don't use the SSD for data storage or write-intensive stuff by the way. It's mainly used for the OS and installation of important programs that do a lot of loading/reading from the drive, where its near-instant read speeds are a godsend.

Guess I'll stay with 4430.

I do know SSD isn't for data storage and stuff. I do have a huge number of application including Adobe Master Suite that alone takes up roughly about 30GB of space. So I'm just guessing that after all application installation, I may not left with much space for freeplay.
