looking to build own game rig

hi guys, i heard building ur own gaming pc is much cheaper. and im interested in doing so, but the thing is i have no knowledge of pc parts and what they do. people have said sim lim shops helps you to make ur own rig. can anyone here guide me tru?

budget is 1.5k. requirements, can play skyrim, diablo, crysis, basically those latest games at max settings. windows 7. monitor/keyboard etc etc, i believe i can do it on my own.
