Hi,

As I started my part time studies, my current old laptop is too heavy to carry to school everyday. Currently using HP dv6 with amd 7690m gfx (2.7kg zzz)

Will be using the new laptop for the following:

Work
- do graphic editing work (photoshop, illustrator)
- some video editing (not high priority)
- run xammp (apache server) for local web development

Gaming
- diablo3 mainly
- super street fighter iv
- some 3d games like skyrim, witcher2

Other features needed
- able to connect to a 27" monitor (1920x1080)
- preferably 14-15"
- lightweight with moderate battery life (this is very important)

This will be my only computer hence it will be best to have all the features in one whole package.

A current consideration is the gigabyte p34g, which meets most of my requirements. But I am concerned about the fan noise stated in the reviews. How loud is that?

Budget : 2k plus minus

Any other alternatives besides the gigabyte laptop?

The gigabyte notebook is by far the lightest gaming laptop i have seen. What is the most heavy laptop you want? An aftershock xg13 is 2kg i think. It has a gtx 765m and i7 selections. Check aftershockpc.com if you want to take a look at the specs.

Preferably 2kg and under. Very tall order I know , this range only have like 2-3 laptops available I guess. I go take a look at aftershockpc, thanks.

Your other choice would be the msi ge 40 at 1.9kg. The cooling is not very good and overheating is an issue though.

If he was considering the p34g, which has the gtx 760m, a ddr3 750m is not going to do the job. The performance gap is day and night.
Also, a i7 duo core cannot be compared to a quad core.
