Good day guys,

Anyone out here knows if there is any business related degree that allows you to kinda have a semester overseas at their campus?

So far, I know University of Birmingham offered by SIM has this Bsc in International Business which allows you to study 1 semester over at Birmingham and 1 overseas internship (6 mths)

I am looking for something similar in case I do not make it to UOB. Its going to be costly to complete any degree overseas which is why I am looking for this option instead.

Thanks in advance!

University of Adelaide over at Ngee Ann Adelaide Education offers degree programs where you can you most of your degree here in Singapore and the option to spend a semester over in Adelaide in South Australia.

Hope this helps.

Try the Manchester degree offered in SIM? Kinda similar since it offers 1 academic year overseas

Thanks for the input, it does allow me to go over to Manchester for the last sem but its kinda based on merits. Haha imagine my disappointment if im not chosen. I would also prefer the course to be full time instead of part time.

score an avg of 2:1 and you will be accepted straight away. I think full time and part time do the same hours. Its just that Part time courses hold their classes at night. But if you want to join CCA in SIM, full time studies better.

Do you mind sharing why you want to spend the semester overseas? Is it for the overseas experience or you eventually want to stay put in the country?

I'm not sure how much is the cost of studies at a private institute, but if you are looking for a DL-Blended program, have you tried checking with the Universities (of your choice) directly if they have such programs?

For example, Boston University has an Online/Blended Degree in Biz program.
College Degree and Certificate Programs | Boston University Metropolitan College

and Penn State has an Online Biz program which let's you transfer over to the campus anytime if you wish.

Northeastern has some programs that let's you do modules online / on-campus as well.
Online Bachelor and Master Degree Programs | Northeastern University Online

All these Uni's have pretty good rankings and reputations too.

What do u mean by score an avg of 2:1? I doubt ill be working, hence having full time instead of part time may be more beneficial plus i dont want to burn my weekends too.

Basically i just want to be exposed overseas and experience a life away from the sheltered singapore. Allows me to face reality for a bit and stand on my two feet and be independent. Dont want to burden my parents nor myself with the full duration of the degree thats why i am looking at like a semester, not much but probably my last shot of studying overseas.

Ngee Ann Adelaide. Degree by The university of adelaide.

Thanks to both of you but I would prefer a uni in UK as its cost of living and tuition fee is cheaper compared to Australia. The website as shown on NAA also looks so unprofessional, no offence but it looks somewhat kiddish. Quite a shallow comment but it doesnt really look appealing.

On a serious note, their study abroad programme somewhat states that I have to find a university that is providing a similar course so that UOA will be able to give me credits for it. Hence it is not as clear cut and seems like a lot of trouble know? I have to find a uni of my choice to filter out a particular module that is similar to the one UOA is offering and write to UOA to ask if the particular module offered by the host uni is acceptable.

2:1 is second upper lor... your second yr avg 60 marks and above then can transfer to on campus. Its 1 academic year overseas so its about 9 months... Compared to 6 mths study and 6 mths work overseas that Birmingham is offering, depends on what you are looking for really. I think for the Bir programme, the whole cohort go over as a class, so its kind of like a school excursion with all your classmates from Singapore. In terms of independence and living ur yourself, I dont think that 6 mths overseas is going to give you much of that...

I was from the SIM Manchester program and haven't worked during the whole period of my course... I dont remember burning away too many weekends for the program though, but I might be wrong...

Btw, how much are you looking to spend overseas? You can work part time in the UK to cover your expenses.

You dont have to find a uni if you choose to study at UOA itself. They just merely have the option for you to study at other unis.

NAA web is not as elaborate as the other schools as they do not spend much on marketing. They also do not accept foreign students yet

But since your preference is to go to UK, then no choice haha.

Hmm yeah you made a good point about the UOB programme. Well, I am hoping to spend enough to get by, don't want my parents to fork out too much. I have wrote in to IDP study abroad agency to see what universities they could recommend for me with the maximum exemptions and fairly prestigious. Thanks for your advice though, I'll give SIM a call to confirm about the odds of getting in Manchester with 2:1 because the last i remembered, the staff told me only a handful which is why i totally ignored this university.

These few are blended with online learning right, would prefer a on campus setting if given the chance. Thanks though!

To be honest the staff at SIM always clueless one. Only a handful transferred to the UK cause most didnt want to due to the high costs. Unlike UOB, its not compulsory to go over to the UK to complete your degree.

I think for the Manchester programme, you can work part time in the UK to subsidies your expenses. Not sure if the UOB programme allows this or not. I think for max exemptions it would be UQ in Aussie. I got offered a 1 year degree in econs by the UQ, can consider that too...

Anyway why not considering for summer immersion? It allows you to study overseas for 1-2 months as well.

I think the best choice right now is uni of Manchester. Was told that so far, none transferred be cos most of them are working adults.

I called up idp after several failed attempts but the consultant is so ignorant, keep asking me to go down to speak to their counsellor. Jack study abroad is more helpful, she was quite frank in telling me if I were to do 2 years I will not be able get into a high ranking uni. Whereas I would have higher chance of getting in a higher ranking uni only if I do 3 years. Well, I don't want to waste 2 years on a deg and end up not being recognised. Looks like uni of Manchester looks the brightest now

I did a little research on that, I feel that it's too short. And it ranges from two weeks to 6 weeks only. I don't think I'll get much out of it
