I understand that every phone stolen/loss would be very hard to find back. Only way is to block it using findmyphone app and render the phone useless since its unable to unlock. If there is no findmyphone app, then it's considered gone. Haha.
I was thinking about the idea that since every iPhone has its imei number, why wouldn't a telco be able to block out the phone (provided a police report has been made), since it's being verified by a law enforcer that the phone is lost/stolen?

i was only thinking about the possibility of a telco helping to block out a specific imei number if i make a report to the police.
Think this might be hard because my police report does not mean that the person who end up using the phone (may have bought it off someone else) may not be the actual one who picked up the phone... Just thinking ...

Doesn't need the app to be installed, you just need to have it enabled in iCloud settings. Try using it to locate your phone else wipe it clean remotely.

Thanks. I am not hopeful. Well what is lost is lost. Just wanna discuss the possibility of carrier or IDA blocking a lost iMEI out to deter cases of theft in future. Do you guys think it's possible or already being implemented?

Maybe there's hope if on each call/sms/data got use the phone's imei as id.

The phone will be sent to outside Singapore. Local Telco blocking is thus, useless.


Best is to disable iphone via icloud. It renders the phone useless - only way is to dissect it and sell as spare parts.

that's what i mean. dissected.
even if they try to reset/restore the firmware, they still need to key in the original icloud username & password.

last time i tried to wipe clean my iphone 5 for sell, before wipe it will ask u to disable the find my Iphone and it needs your icloud to proceed. Then, after wipe, if Im not wrong, you still need to key in the icloud password one more time.

telco did mentioned before tt such function will slow the network and more 'work' needs to be done
