Was watching some movie earlier on then my entire PC power just died, shortly after like 2 sec there was a loud bang from my PSU and power trip to my house taking along away my IEC cables.

My spec as follows:

Asus Z170-K, 6600k
980Ti
2x SSD
1x HDD
5x 120mm fan
PSU is Seasonic M12ii 750W

lucky I had a spare PSU and tested all my hardware is still working.

So just wanted to make sure its a faulty PSU and not because of other hardware issue like underpowered etc. Any advice would be appreciate. Thanks

edited: I took out and tried to test the seasonic PSU again this time I didnt even have to on my PC, the moment i flip the PSU switch there was a loud bang and I could see sparks coming out.

Yes your PSU is faulty. And No, you should never try it twice after you hear a loud bang the first time around.

Consider yourself lucky twice over - firstly, the PSU did not take out the rest of your components; secondly, you did not zap yourself with a PSU that might have short-circuited.

Any reason for my psu to short circuit? Bad psu or other reason and the delay of the bang few secs after my pc power went off is due to the psu circuit protection?

Must open then can diagnose, but will void warranty.

A bang is the result of failed primary circuit, the AC stage.

Don't attempt to repair, RMA it.

Thats where before converting of AC to DC portion.

I myself scared to handle those "bang" before industrial rectifiers. Most of the time just change, dont ask any question lol.

Lately saw more than 3 seasonic PSU up lorry Liao....

If these PSUes failed within the warranty period, then it is time to avoid Seasonic. This happened to my Corsair PSU too before I RMA and sold the unit to move over to SuperFlower.
