Loud pop and system dead.

So just few hours ago, I was only listening to music on my desktop when a sudden loud pop and electricity was cut off in the whole house.

Pior to this I had just install a brand new gpu in the afternoon and had no issue until night time.

Spec,
I5-4670k
Asus z87 Pro mobo
Corsair ddr3 4gb x2
Gtx1650 twin oc
Coolermaster v850 psu

As I couldn't power on the cpu anymore, I decide to open the case and inspect. Initially I smell nothing burning nor any signs of abnormalities. However when I proceed to take out the psu, I found a capacitor had "drop out" from the mobo. Upon inspection, this capacitor is located just next to the pcie card slot.

I had not done the paper clip test for the psu yet, so not confirm if psu are dead. But most probably dead as there is no light nor anything happening.

My questions, did the new gpu cause this to happen? As I previously ran on integrated graphic for a while with no problem before installing a new gpu.

PSU is definetely gone, think next PSU consider either Seasonic or Corsair.
Issue as your PC is blown, components like motherboard, RAM, graphic card can be affected.
Check if motherboard capacitor are intact since you know what they are.

If any cap blown out the motherboard is as good as dead.
RAM wise do not throw away, if brought locally can bring to service center at Ubi for RMA
as well as the graphic card.

To me you will need a new CPU, motherboard and RAM as well as PSU.
Intel i5 4670 is already more than 5 years old.

Likely the psu die, just do a paper clip or clipper test with it and see if the psu fan spin, don't worry, it won't short circuit you, is just on off switch
You also might need to test the pc cable, the fuse might have blown but wait, if your whole house flip, then you should be using cable without fuse, right? @_@

PSU dead... could be insects crawl inside or dust accumulated and short the circuits... RMA

Well, it does last me since 2014.

PSU degrade over time. Your new GPU pushed the current draw over the limit.

You seem to had blown your psu then. Regarding capacitor drop out from your motherboard, my guess is
this loose capacitor might cause your psu to blow. Unlikely gpu is the cause.

there are actually fewer 1650 cards that dont require pcie power vs those that do, because even though official tgp is just 75w, most board partners just oc them anyway. knowing the brand probably wont help either.

I agreed, not much help now since its already happened.

My purpose of knowing which brand would be able to research abit more on the net for the feedback of this particular gpu power efficiency (if info available) and very weired for a low power gpu to suddenly blow up a psu honestly.

PSU and MB are goners. Other parts might be salvageable (for sale) if you have a spare PSU and MB to test them.

I also had been using CM Silent ProM 600W for more than 5 years....no issues...but then I using IGP...so probably don't tax on the PSU.

Reading it again
The "pop" sound likely from your capacitor, it basically "popped".
Your PSU might blown, otherwise your house won't short ciruit
But most importantly, I suspect you not using pc cable with fuse. Your fuse should have blown first therefore preventing house short circuit. So please do get a proper pc cable.

Now, what does it mean for your rig? Unknown status!
You could solder a replacement, for fun, for money, for test, whatever! Then test if still work!
Of course, that also mean you gotta check other capacitors, a lot of capacitors on motherboard afterall.

Does replacing capacitor itself work in the first place? Yes, I did it to my old boards before. You gotta buy the exact v and uf though. You could buy high "v" and even "uf" but not recommended.

Second hand? 2600 series is not possible to find new one.
This is only reference/example:

Gigabyte Aorus B550M Elite + R5 3500 - $391
Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz CL16 - $155
Seasonic Core-GX 650 watt - $135

$700 is a bit tight, the RAM forgo RGB save a bit of money as well as PSU get
Seasonic Core-GX 650 is lower than Focus but will do fine for your build.
I am using one for a old Intel i5 rig so far no issue with Core GX650.

But again this is just for reference.
