Hey guys, was gonna re-haul my old PC only used to surf web/microsoft office and was wondering if I could get a decent long-lasting cpu+mobo for ~300. Perhaps something sandybridge or more recent.

Current parts I can reuse in the new build:

70Gb SSD, 500 Gb HDD, 600W PSU (probably overkill but I have it laying around anyway), 260 GTX (prefer not to have to use it though for energy concerns).

Another alternative is to move my current gaming rig's 2500K + ASUS Maximus Gene-IV to the old computer and spend a bit more to get a new upgrade for my gaming rig. Not too sure about this because it means work will have to be done on two computers instead of one, and my current setup is fine for now, except when playing RIFT which is apparently quite CPU intensive too. Which do you guys recommend?

That game is CPU intensive because its poorly optimised. No point upgrading because if u try modern games i5 2500k can run fine

Yeah I thought so too. I don't really feel the later gens have any significant improvement over my current sandybridge anyway... Just really sucks that I have to run with almost bare minimum settings on Rift to just get double digit FPS in raids.

Still looking for suggestions!
