Hey all,

Im thinking of building a low power consumption gaming rig to run games like starcraft 3, simcity 2013, etc and be suitable for future upcoming games in full graphic settings.. budget below $3500.. can anyone offer some suggestions on how to build?

my room is not airconditioned, so do i need a better cooling system, as it sometimes gets real hot when i am playing in the day....

Do you need os, monitor, keyboard, mouse and wifi adapter?

Do you intend to overclock?

ya overkill indeed, yours is OP. even mine own rig i also find abit OP, but TS may just want to spent and want the best but if you get the best, there will be not much of power consumption savings

The integrated graphics on Intel core i3 3220T with HD graphics seems to effectively lower power consumption. Anyone knows if I can still run games like simcity 2013 starcraft or diablo with mid or full graphics?

Given your budget, why will you want to use integrated gpu to play your games? You should be looking at discrete gpu like 7970, Titan or GTX 670/680 to allow you to play most games at high settings smoothly.

Not good enough, the links missed out some details where certain games need a dedicated card. this processor is fine but can consider 7790 85w tpd at lower tier, gtx 670 170w at higher tier, and the titan is 250w, best if u want the best, heh

Don't understand why u're so obsessed with low power consumption ? :s11: Usually in order to play a game at high setting smoothly, the higher the frame rate the better and that usually means better gfx card and the better the card translate to higher power consumption. Same thing applies to the cpu (some games are more cpu dependent like Starcraft).

But than since u got so much moolah u might as well get an Aftershock laptop since when all's said and done a laptop should have a lower power consumption than any diy desktop.

Long story short I stay in an old house and I have to pull the power into my room. Its weak and prone to trips.

In that case, you should consider getting 1 UPS(Uninterruptible power supply), just in case where there are power trips you still have power to your PC and do your last min documents saved etc..

Very simple.

$1000 for a single unit aircon for your room.
$2500 for a kick ass gaming computer.
Problem solved. :D
