Low power GPU for compact desktop

what are some recommendations for a low power graphic card for small form factor desktops?

i'm thinking of 1030 because it uses 20-30W only (https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-1030/specifications)

Low profile means the PCB is narrower than usual. For a 10 cm casing, the GPU definitely needs to be low profile.

Something like this -

GTX 1050Ti is the best GPU you can buy that is low profile.

GTX 1030 does use less power but is much weaker. If you are not gaming, then it should be fine.

If you get the 1050ti w/o any 6/8 pin connectors and just run off pcie slot, it will only draw 75w. Ur psu shld be ok to handle.

it's a dell small form factor desktop, processor is i5-8400 with 8GB RAM 2666MHz. i do some light gaming like dota 2, but mainly using the desktop for everyday use

Nope. Passive airflow with 1x 80mm fan or bigger, inside those OEM chassis is enough to cool the system.

what wrong with the pc now? dota 2 is millions of years ago. maybe the pc will run fine without the gpu.

Small form factor pc with low end hardware no issue with overheat as low end gpu like gt 1030 does not even generate that much heat. So for small form factor not an issue.

But if you were to have 1080ti or vega 64, threadripper cpu in a small form factor build heat will be an issue. Just have to put more fans.

And btw the i5 8400 igpu can play dota 2 720p no problem. Just tweak the settings set to 720p slide the slider for performance. Saw some youtube dota 2 gameplay video playing dota 2 at 720p using the i5 8400 IGPU at 720p no issue.
