So it is safe to vote oppo since they are unlikely to win.

Not siding any. Think if need give self alot of reason to vote, probably immature in certain ways. One either support or don't support. That what the poll paper indicate also, nothing more nothing less. No need say till got dragon got phoenix. Not as if the poll paper will take comments :s22:.

nothing much to be unease about..

If WP managed to get more people elected, they are able to put more pressure on MIW. Anyway, that is really a nice strategy that they are playing ma - not too many and not too much. They really want to set some firm footing first.

This election is a test for them. It is already a good result if they are able to hold onto whatever territories that they are holding to now, anything more will be a bonus!

Better than that SingFirst party.. SDP GE > PE > create party... Bunch of jokers, I would put them even lower than RP. :s13:

why is that so?

to some, its a good thing to have no opposition in parliament. why? because the ideology is that absolute trust is entrusted to incumbent because they simply trust them enough to make the right decisions for TC and country. to them, oppositions only hinder their progress.

be open to accept there are different ideologies lying around. there's 101 reasons out there! definitely valid but peeps share different opinions.

I was referring to this and bold it for emphasis in my previous quote.

then see the magic happens when there's no contest in parliament

You suggested that if incumbent gets all seats, "magic happens".

If this is not fear mongering, then what is?

I don't respond to opposition supporters' allegation of incumbent fear mongering because they do sound like fear mongering; extrapolating the inconclusive.

However, if opposition supporters detest fear mongering, there should be none on their part.

TS has a point. Then again, getting more opp into parliament is like giving very big slap to driver for him to wake up

Not big slap. In other countries, it is normal the opp have at least 30-40% seats. Singapore is the special case where the opp win 20 seats is consider good results and winning 30% is miracle.

wp is not extreme left wing de, centre left wing.

extreme left wing must have good knowledge n skills when come to articulating their ideas. but so far doesn't seem like its possible to be extreme and yet have some form of proper plan for any policy :s22:

I get what you mean. To the arrogant PAP, any loss is a slap.

“For the Opposition to have enough resources ... you need to have at least 20 Members of Parliament to have enough people to keep watch on the Government,” he said in response to a question as the WP began introducing its election candidates yesterday.

I always been a sarporker of opposition party... Can check moi pass post if u doubt. moi no PAP IB. I kept thing why he said at least 20.. why not at least 1/3 to be at least effective ? why did he choose to field only 28 members ?

whats are Worker party up to ? They seem to me they don't not want to help stop any harmful changes to the current legislation. They seem to be they are trying to be a co driver that do not want to pull the brake. Just to slap the driver and claim to be "check and Balance" after that...

Example : Lets just said only WP 28 members got erected, If GST were to up 10%, they will all vote not but they don't not vote to stop it. Then next erection they can claim they fight very hard for your clause..

Just like someone who want to see the accident happen , then point the finger at the driver and look good...
They also need to see if got capable people to field or not. Cannot just field any ah cat or ah dog to make up the numbers, will do more harm than good.

Even PAP find it hard to get good people, not to mention oppositions.

Because development of democracy in Singapore is stifled by PAP. Therefore some people are not comfortable with not handling PAP the necessary majority in the parliament and the WP knew this.
Perhaps the question you should ask is whether YOU are comfortable with PAP not having the majority in the parliament.
