Paralympics leh? Talented and 'lucky' enough to be born without limbs or caught in accident to be handicapped so can discover real talent? Lol.
Don't think that hardwork is solely from genes. That's not how genes work.
You dont pop out of womb and start as a hardworking baby, avoid sleeping and drinking less milk and start practicing how to crawl, talk, walk.
It's probably more of nurture than nature. You grew up from a poor family, parents brainwash you thinking you need to work hard so don't end up like them. You learn grit and perseverance, working through the night to mug like mad to ace your studies to get the scholarship for free uni education. That's not luck.
Like I said disability is a just a bad case of life RNG, they prob already have whatever talents or aptitudes for those sports but never got the chance to explore them until they do. The fact that they lost a limb or born without means this world is based of luck or unlucky in this sense. Obviously they have to spend more time, learn differently to adapt to life and society that is built for people with both arms and legs. Its not because the never work hard enough that's why they have less legs or hands than others. Its not even an argument that genetics plays a big part in becoming a successful athlete.
I am not saying one cannot learn to work hard, but your capacity - being good at or naturally inclined to working hard is actually affected by genes. And that is exactly how genes work. In fact your genes actually do affect how successful you are. This is scientifically proven by the studies
Your success is shaped by your genes .
Obviously nurture is a thing, but if you have less capacity and talent and resources, you will take so much longer and may never reach the same level as someone who has it all. You see this in art classes all the time, some people with a natural talent for drawing etc started years later than some who has done it their whole life and beat them in a short amount of time.
Again I never say to not work hard. All I am saying is the deciding factor of success is not hard work but luck or RNG. Without an avg IQ you wont even be able to comprehend most things let alone excel in school or at work. With out being born in a good country like Singapore, you might not have the resources and chances in like. You might end up in some war-torn country or rural tribe, where you wont have the luxury you have now. That's not something you can choose for yourself. Opportunities that people given to you are luck too. Even if you are the most hardworking person on earth, if people don't like you they won't give you that chance.
I ever scored the best for an interview and the test, and yet I wasn't hired. Someone from the inside told me the guy doing the recruiting wanted to hire a girl. Are you telling me I did not get the job cause I did not work hard enough? Obviously I was unlucky the guy in charged is using his position for some self gains and benefits.
One person can work super hard on their craft their entire life and get their job taken over by AI. while some guy can just achieve nothing in life but turn life around one night by winning toto jackpot. People can go jogging and get hit by falling branches and die, while someone else can get viral by saying HAWK TUAH in an interview and earn 80k off merch. Some people worked hard all their life to amount to nothing, some people takes drugs go in jail come out make TikTok videos go viral now marry third wife and make a lot of money.
LIFE is a big RNG model, once you accept that you are not bothered by a lot of unfair sh*t anymore. you realized you don't have control over most things, so there's no point in beating yourself up or comparing sh*t. Stop listening to id*ots that says their own hard work is the sole reason they got where they are in life. That is utter BS, those people have self-enhancing bias/ ego centric bias, where they take all the credit for their success and give little to no credit for other external factors or people.
The fact you were born at all means you were lucky, you didn't get thrown away in a condom or flushed down the toilet no?
