Recently, after referral from my camp MO to "Changi Sports Medicine Centre",(CSMC) at CGH,I am finally being referred for MRI scan by the specialist because he suspected me to be diagnosed with Slip Disc.

MRI scan was done on the 20th April, and was told to wait for the next doctor appointment from the CSMC again on the 14th May 2015.

Now,my lower back pain got worsened till it spread to my left side of my body to numb, aching and weak(left arm, hip, leg).

I reported sick on my camp MO,but he said that nothing could be done but to wait for the next CGH appointment to get the MRI results/report.

The question is,how can i expidite to get my MRI results because my pain got worsened and makes me weak to walk etc.

P.S,there was once I went for a Medical Appointment for other medical reason, and I asked that doctor if can know my MRI result eventhough from different department,an I managed to read out something like "minimal disc bulge etc" on his computer.

That doctor then close the file on the computer because he told me he cant reveal it as he is from other department .

I don't think it's the MRI results that needs to be expedited, it's your appointment that needs to be expedited.

How to get an appointment? ASK and REQUEST, if that can't be done and you are in such pain, then go to A&E.

haiz... there are so many things that you can do...

1. call CSMC and ask them if can bring forward the appointment.

2. go to CGH A&E and tell them that your lower back pain has worsened and that an MRI has already been done.

This is a very obvious sign of nerve compression.

I would advise going to A&E as soon as possible.

You wouldn't want to suffer permanent damage.

I was back from A&E this morning, the doctor then told me this "Your MRI reports shows no slip disc nor anything serious".But then when I read out the report it shows a minimal disc bulging but not serious. So in conclusion, the MRI report states normal.

I am concern of myself as I did not wish my lower back pain to worsen in the future after I ORD.The doctor only told me its just a normal strains on my back.

I dont think normal strains on back could be for months, bcoz it started from January and worsen day by day till now.

I have yet to declare that I have a serious flat floot and genu valgum on knees,I believe these were the cause of affecting my back pain when I walk or standing..Im going to the MO tomorrow, and hope to declare these as well

Are you still in bmt? I would say, for your good. Just state the worse scenario. I survived acl & meniscus tear for 10month without much a problem, still can lift, squat walk and run. When I go BMT, it worsen quite badly. Even walking up stairs hurt a lot. I began to have randomly fall ( knee just twist/give way). Finally after 1 month in bmt, i was send out of course.

Even with my MRI report & letters, Tekong mo & my camp MO can tell me that I don't suffer an acl tear. They run some " pulling test" but concluded that My knee is normal. But it's okay, i just go for the surgery.

If you are still in tekong, its best to sound up to your PC/sgt. They may say you try to chao geng and stuff, talk to them nicely and they will understand. My PC & sgt was good, they even mention, health is for life. NS is only 2 year. You choose.

If they really force you to do stuff that will make your injuries worse, and lets say, touch wood, if things really were to happen, they got to answer a lot of stuff & reports to write. I seen that happening, my friend, who had his ACL & meniscus repair 4 years ago, he injured again. While doing shutter run & soc element.

I was lucky, i got the same day MRI & x ray scan on the appointment date itself. and my physio actually reveal to me before the doctors.

@botakbotak, no im not in BMT anymore, already in Unit now.

Just now I talked to the MO,he told me the 'knock knees'(genu valgum) that I have is normal as he as a MO declared that he do suffer same but more severe than mine...

He doesnt want to know anything about my flat foot when I told him and just told me that I suffer from some 'muscle spasm' which was nothing serious to him.

He told me to wait for my next CSMC appointment and let the specialist write what my final diagnosis is,and if to downgrade me not.I realised that after all, MO dont really understand about my pain and they really depend on Hospital Specialist to decide..😕

the MOs are the same as your GPs... standard fever, flu, cough, diarrhoea, etc they can handle. the rest they need to rely on the medical specialists.

To add on, those NSF kind I don't think outside they are even able to become full fledged GP given that they re enlist after they r done with housemanship only.
