M.2 socket types / keys

Not sure when the terms Socket 1, Socket 2 and Socket 3 came about, because all this while I have been using the Key type to distinguish among them.

I know A key and E key M.2 sockets are for WiFi and WWAN cards. B key and M key are for SSDs.

Which key type correspond to which socket number?
