Hi guys, I just got this rig from HP:

http://h20386.www2.hp.com/SingaporeStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=ECC_BUNDLE_5637600&opt=&sel=DTP

Going to swap out the 128GB SATA SSD for a larger capacity one. Min 500GB.

Given the rig uses the Z170 chipset and should have 1 x M.2 socket 3, key M.....which SSD should I use from a price/ performance standpoint?

Did some looking around and got damn confused about this M.2 thing.

Or should I stick to the good old SATA3 SSDs. Should be going for a song now.

Thanks experts.

keyword: should.
Open up the case and find it first.

Likely is SATA only.

Stick to SATA SSD, no point wasting money just for the sake of following the latest trend.

chipset supports it doesnt mean the motherboard maker implements it on the board

anyway..just wondering...
u buy a pc from HP for $1899
then now u wanna diy and change the SSD yourself, which probably will void the warranty and negate any benefits of buying it from HP (i.e vendor support which u paid the premium for)

if u have diyed at the start using $1899, you would have gotten much better specs :s22:
