Have not seen any shop selling. But have 2 pcs shipped with my Acer laptop as the dvd drive support it.

Believe you can get it from ebay. Good for photo storing.

true. But i have 2 qnaps with total capacities 12tb+

and even then i find i'm running out of space unless every 5 years i replace the drives with higher capacity ones.

Also not to mention risks of bit rot which will lead to corruption of files over time. This why most of my collection have crc tags appended.

considering that m-disc technology purports 1000 year life time discs, i'm more confident storing my video collection on them in addition to keeping another set on my NAS for streaming on LAN.

NAS by itself is not considered a proper backup :X

Yes MDisc can be readable on any dvd or bluray player and ROM

Technically that isn't the case.

MDisc comes in DVD or BluRay form. So it still depends on what kind of MDisc.

DVD MDisc can be read on DVD players and above (like BluRay player), while BluRay MDisc can only be read on BluRay player. :o

This is interesting. Anybody try the M-Disc Blu-ray disc with existing Blu-ray drive?

The M-Disc Blu-ray meets all of the specifications for the Blu-ray recordable (BD-R) format. This means it should work in any Blu-ray writer. Our testing indicates that it will work in over 80% of Blu-ray drives made after about 2011.
The M-Disc DVD requires an upgraded disc drive that can deliver the increased laser power required to burn an M-Disc DVD. Therefore, only an M-READY Drive can burn data to an M-Disc DVD.

New from Verbatim

Hot from the press. Verbatim is introducing their latest M Disc with a capacity of 100GB. This is an excellent product for archiving.
