M1 enables 5G for everyone

All current and new M1 mobile users with a compatible device can now enjoy the benefits of the game-changing 5G technology – no ifs, ands or buts.

M1 Limited (M1) today launched its 5G non-standalone (NSA) network, enabling all its mobile users to radically transform their reality by simply adding on a 5G Booster pack to their existing mobile plan.

M1 is Singapore’s first and only telco to open up 5G access to all its customers, without any limitation on the number of sign-ups or restrictions on any plans. Each and every one of its current and new mobile users are able to enjoy the early 5G benefits including ultra-low latency and faster speeds – powering a personalised 5G experience without limits.

Starting at just $15 for 25GB and up to $40 for 100GB, the 5G Booster packs will be extended to all M1 customers with compatible 5G NSA devices. Customers who sign up for this 5G Booster pack before the end of 2020 will get to enjoy up to 70% discount on the 5G Booster pack for six months, along with a year-long free subscription to VIU. Starting from tomorrow, customers will be able to sign up for the 5G Booster pack at*www.m1.com.sg/5G/5Go*and start enjoying the 5G experience with M1.

With unparalleled mobile network experience for 5G video streaming, cloud gaming, remote working and other applications, customers who sign up for M1’s 5G Booster pack can experience a glimpse into the new reality through a significant increase in network responsiveness, blazing speeds and shorter lag time, as well as up to three times greater download and upload speeds.

Already, M1’s 5G NSA network is up and running in CBD, Orchard Road, Suntec City and Marina Bay. Over the next few months, the service will also be extended to additional parts of the city, covering key town centres across Singapore by the end of 2020. Customers with compatible 5G NSA devices will be able to start enjoying 5G services in these areas. For an updated list of 5G NSA supported devices, please visit*www.m1.com.sg/5G/5Go.

Mr Manjot Singh Mann, Chief Executive Officer, M1, said: “It is no secret that 5G will play a pivotal role in boosting Singapore’s digital economy. We have already seen glimpses of its potential through various enterprise and consumer 5G use cases and trials that we have embarked on so far. Now, we’re thrilled to bring our customers the very best of this game-changing technology to our customers.”

M1 is on track to start the rollout of its 5G Standalone (SA) network early next year, which will be the eventual nationwide standard to be adopted in Singapore by end-2022. This more secure and resilient 5G SA network will allow us to tap into the full potential of 5G technology and open up a better range of applications from cloud gaming to autonomous vehicles and remote surgery. M1 will in parallel continue to support its NSA network, ensuring that early adopters already on the NSA network can enjoy a seamless transition to SA whenever they are ready for the switch.

Leading up to the 5G network license award, M1 has demonstrated its 5G SA technological advancements in various real-world tests. At this year’s Chingay parade, M1 leveraged its 5G SA technology to livestream one of the key highlights of the parade through the lens of a camera drone. Leveraging M1’s 5G SA network, M1 also collaborated with Haidilao’s new flagship restaurant to turn it into a smart restaurant with enhanced customer experience.* *

Enterprises in Singapore have also been able to trial 5G through a range of partnerships with M1. A recent collaboration with the IMDA, MPA and Airbus has demonstrated the potential of 5G SA network in an active maritime drone estate to ensure unmanned aerial vehicles can operate safely and efficiently during all phases of their flights, including operations in the designated drone-fly zones. M1 has also partnered Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) for the test bedding of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) in Singapore’s water to establish reliable ship-to-shore communication links, and support mission-critical Internet-of-Things (IoT) maritime applications. Other collaborations include M1 partnering with Nanyang Technological University to help develop the first 5G SA cellular vehicle, as well as with Singapore University of Technology and Design to develop 5G advanced robotics technology.

M1 launches 5G network, 5G Booster Packs starting at S$15 for 25GB

As of today (24 September 2020), M1 is enabling access to 5G to all of its users. All an M1 user needs is to add on a 5G Booster Pack, available regardless of the user's M1 mobile plans type.

According to M1, the 5G Booster Packs will allow users to experience a significant increase in network responsiveness, blazing speeds, and shorter lag times, as well as 'up to three times greater download and upload speeds'.

In their official statement, M1 said that the 5G non-standalone (NSA) network is already up and running in the Central Business District (CBD), Orchard Road, Suntec City, and Marina Bay. Over the next few months, M1 will roll out the service across other parts of Singapore, including 'key town centres' by the end of 2020.

The 5G Booster Pack starts at S$15 for 25GB, and it goes all the way up to S$40 for 100GB. Should a user choose to sign up before end-2020, users can enjoy up to 70% discount on the packs for six months, along with a year-long free subscription to online streaming platform Viu. These packs are available starting from tomorrow (25 September 2020) at https://www.m1.com.sg/5G/5Go. More details are also available on the microsite (when it does go live).

Info on M1 5G from the Ask Mindy Chatbox:

"M1's 5G is built based on a 5G non-standalone (NSA) network using 2100Mhz spectrum.

We are also working on the standalone network deployment in parallel, which is independent of the 4G network.

Standalone 5G will unlock 5G’s capabilities further, enabling not only increased mobile data capacity and bandwidth, but also ultra-responsive, ultra-low-latency services, network slicing for high quality of service and the ability to connect massive number of devices.

If you wish to enjoy M1's 5G network, you will need to activate one of our 5G Booster for your line. Most importantly, you must have a 5G supported device and must be within M1's 5G coverage areas. "

seems like same as Starhub for 5G NSA

Additional $5/MTH for extra 25GB
Additional $8/MTH for extra 45GB
Additional $12/MTH for extra 100GB

Not bad, if get $12/MTH add-on, on top of $20/MTH base plan, it's total $32 for 30GB+100GB. Total 131Gb of 5G

Yes yes, pls check the max speed before people use them up.

I believe will be better than Starhub coz the M1 4G speed in town is really bad 🤣

This 5G booster is the same tactic used when the 4G is launched years ago.
