Just a small issue, everyone will forget and move on, the big issue is how much IDA will fine M1

From an investor's perspective the fine is not a big issue either. $1m would be just 0.7% of M1's annual net profit. If they get a one-time smallish fine and they don't lose many customers, no impact at all.

But this source say M1 may be (or should I say, WILL DEFINITELY BE) kenna fine by Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore. The question is how much only.

Max fine: 1 million dollars or 10% of ANNUAL TURNOVER of licensee, whichever is higher. OMG!

M1 users offered compensation for service outage | ZDNet

If they get fined, I believe the money should go to affected customers, instead of the sg govt. Customers suffer, govt profit. Pssssssfffftt.

DW, you do realise that together with the final dividend, this yr dividend for M1 is only 0.1c higher than last yr final dividend right?

FY11 final is 7.9c. FY12 Final + Special is 8c
FY11 total dividend is 14.5c. FY 12 total dividend is 14.6c

Nothing to be super excited about. I actually look at it as a cut in final dividend from 7.9c to 6.3c. =:p

Looks like M1's profits stagnating already. There're probably no more avenue to grow unless they venture overseas or go into the PayTV business.

Stagnating? Not like the white paper of population not going to state that the increase in population is going to stop, nor they say that increase in product offerings will create a market out of thin air.

Case in point: the creation of phablets that made mobile data relevant to the people again, before that was the mobile broadband stick

M1 needs to hit new avenue like maybe the TV market (what SH and ST is doing now.. TV on smartphones/tablet..)

Increase in population does not mean increase in revenue.. Our population increase 2 million doesn't mean 2 million people will subscribe to M1..

Most likely 60% will go to ST, 30% to SH and only 10% to M1..

I think SPH owns part of M1 too.

DW, you cannot just think. You must be sure!! You are vested in both SPH and M1 after all. :s22:

From M1 2011 Annual Report: Singapore Press Holdings Limited is deemed to be interested in the 124,453,000 Shares held by SPH Multimedia Private Limited pursuant to Section 7 of the Companies Act.
