@hereiam7788, welcome to the family.

Unless one is doing a lot of upload/download, 500Mb plan last mile speed is usually more than sufficient.

finally got my m1 500Mbps fibre broadband installed today. totally zero difference in user experience comparing to 1Gbps previously haha.

comparing to starhub 1Gbps, i find that the user experience is better. when i was on starhub 1Gbps, when i use mobile phone to watch youtube, a lot of time the video is loaded with 720p by default (auto).
now m1 500Mbps, the video is loaded with 1080p by default (auto).

M1 500Mbps plan is probably the best value for money (it has free digital voice whereas Starhub 500Mbps does not have, both have IPv6).

However, I do not think your YouTube test is really the right test to support your conclusion that you get better user experience. It could be a temporary thingy and it may well more depend on YouTube.

ic. i think so too. but mine is 12-month contract. not sure if it comes with digital voice?
even the m1 shop lady that day called me said that my plan comes with sim card, but look like website only said 24-months contract one has it. the lady asked me to go to m1 shop to collect, not sure if it is true or not. later waste my time travelling down and nothing got in the end.

ic. will monitor to see how. but one thing noticed is that the mobile game i am playing, i have high latency on m1 fibre than starhub fibre.

Hi all,

I just replaced my Asus router with TPLINK Deco X20. But I somehow cant seem to get the IPV6 to work. What are the settings to set for M1. Using cloudfare DNS for ipv4 , would like to use their dns ipv6 as well.

For advice, please.

Regards,
Alan

Hi guys, planning to sign up 1G. Saw 10.10 promotion waiving 2 months fee and registration, and on default M1 will wait ONT for weeksday 9-6pm, so means that I don't have any further upfront cost to pay?

I considered 500M before due to the price, but anyway I need a router, so the free router +2 months waive making 1G a good deal.

I have decided to switch to M1, since there is no good offer from Starhub to retain current subscriber.

When I was going through the T&C, I saw this :

Fixed Voice Service

1. A One-time service activation fee of $37.45 (inclusive of GST) for M1 Fixed Voice service ("FV service) is applicable.

What does this means? Does this mean I need to pay $37.34 for Digital Voice?

The Sian part
-------------------
Terminate from Starhub - Pay $32.10
Fibre Broadband Registration Charge - $58.85
Total - $90.95

The free 2 mths subscription $39.90 x 2, also not enough cover this.

for the 2x1Gbps plan, saw illustration on M1 website is 1TP --2 ONT LAN--Router
with such configuration, are we getting single or 2 public IP ?

Two IP addresses and two separate networks.

:unsure:

If you want better redundancy, then using two 500Mbps plans from two different ISPs is much better than a dual 1Gbps plan from single ISP.

Ok. Just signed up with M1 liao.

I called M1 and the person told me that if use the code "1010FBB", then the $58.85 will be waived also + first 2 mths subscription waived.

Hi guys I just signed up for 500mbps plan and using Asus AX86u.

I tested the speed using Ookla speedtest app. The Download speed I got when I selected Viewquest as the Test Server is around 450 - 480+. However, when I select Singtel, Starhub, M1 & Myrepublic as the Test Server, the download speed I got was only around 200 - 290+.

Does anyone know what could be the problem and which test server is showing the accurate speed result?

Hi

Just to check.

My current M1 Fibre BB contract end on 31 Oct 2021. Which one is better?

1) Fibre Relocation
2) Sign up new one at new house then 1 Nov terminate current at present house.

Let me know as soon as possible.

Thanks.

M1 needs to release router MAC:

Benefited from this thread, so I would like to contribute back.

DIY Steps to resolve this (i.e. Using M1, want to change a new router but new router cannot get a connection ).
-> Call M1, Dial 1627
-> Choose 2, Broadband services
-> Choose 2, Tech Assistance
-> Choose 5, Not able to connect to internet
-> Need to refresh network, to do a network reset, Press 1
-> Key in your M1 fibre service account number, xxx xxx xxx, Press 1 to confirm
-> Enter Mobile number for M1 to inform (SMS) when done, xxxx xxxx, Press 1 to confirm
-> Power off ONT
-> Power off and disconnect your old router from the ONT
-> Connect your new router to the ONT
<<Wait for SMS, appx 5min>>
-> Power on ONT
-> Power on the new router. It will typically take slightly longer than usual for the new router to get ready.

Done!
