That is probably a problem.

StarHub kind of allows this based on the reports, not sure about M1.
My uncle M1 fibre from 1Gpbs upgrade to 3Gpbs phone line cannot transfer have to take new Number

I got the asus BE98 on 12.12 sale for around $792. recontract with M1 to 10gbps on boxing day. went online to get 10gbe adapter for around $77. total cost to go for the 10gbps.

If you are willing to pay, it is a very good buy to get Asus ROG GT-BE98, which is top of the line Asus WiFi 7 router and kind of the best consumer WiFi 7 router available in Singapore market.

S$792 seems to be a good price for ROG GT-BE98.

S$792 seems to be a good price for ROG GT-BE98.

If you are not willing to pay, there are still quite some options for 10Gbe capable WiFi 7 routers and even more options for 2.5Gbe capable WiFi 7 routers.

10Gbe capable routers (wired and wireless) and 10Gbe capable switches, RJ45 version and SFP+ version

WiFi 7 routers (10Gbe capable, 5Gbe capable, 2.5Gbe capable)

5Gbe and 10Gbe network adapters

i got home phone number, if were to re-sign up as new user, do you think they allow you to transfer the number over?

That is probably a problem.

StarHub kind of allows this based on the reports, not sure about M1.

My uncle M1 fibre from 1Gpbs upgrade to 3Gpbs phone line cannot transfer have to take new Number

i upgrade 1Gpbs to 10 Gpbs and the guy say can maintain the same number.

strange..
i upgrade from 1gbps to 6gbps, didn't even mention anything.. just got back the same number as default..

The initial context about the question is wheter M1 is able to maintain the same Digital Voice number if the user chooses to sign up as a new user to get better pricing instead of recontract (eg:10Gbps plan Chirstmas offer at S$30.90 per month for new users, S$34.90 per month for recontract users).

Starhub kinds of allow this but you need to talk to them to get the agreement.

M1 may not be able to accomodate such requests.

anyone else has had super unstable and high ping to aus uk usa in the past 2 days?
Me. Other than for Australia ping is expected to be high because of a cable cut on Indigo-West last month. My monitors are recording some ping spikes at night to some EU and US servers. This has been going on since mid-Nov 2025 after a routing policy change at SH (M1's upstream) caused more M1 traffic going via Telstra/SH.

MTR at 10PM, today.

The main factor for all this is when it involves SH, be it inbound or outbound. Likely diagnosis that M1 <-> SH is congested, as SH does not seem to have these problems.

BTW, SingTel to M1 using IPv6 is always bad, the reasons may be due to both sides. And as per my recent check, it goes through StarHub.

Just re-contracted my soon expiring M1 1gbps plan to a new 10gbps promo plan, at $29.90 incl. GST.
Checked the m1 app and saw that I have some stackable vouchers... Apparently mine can do either online directly via app or on-site but I did it on-site anyway as I happen to be at a mall with M1 service centre + no queue.

Why:
- Just hoot it/ recontract coz it is one of the lowest priced plans available for me.
- Still on ONT, not ONR.

Caveat:
- My 8+ year old Huawei modem ONT cannot use anymore and had to be replaced..
- after contract ends, $135 monthly if i don't recontract.. WTH, expensive sia.... But that is something i need to worry 2 years later lol.

Remarks:
This is the no-router plan. Carousell plenty of budget friendly BNIB Asus RT-BE92U at much lower price, so I went to get that too (upgraded to Asus Merlin firmware) as I am already deep in the Asus eco-system. Now I have: Asus RT-AX86U Pro, RT-AC86U (EOL, intend to use in store room) and a new RT-BE92U.

Other info:
Router DNS: long subscribed to and using NextDNS.io (~S$30 a year?)
// Apple TV, Android boxes, Google TV, legacy smart TV: Exclusively use subscribed ControlD DNS with geo-unblocking feature (~US$5 a year, lifetime, as long as I don't cancel it), also for some years now.

Questions:
My HDB is only Cat5e, so max is 2.5gbps by LAN. But wirelessly, what can i use to maximise the power of 10gbps?
Also, any Asus pro people here? ---> Recommended to set up RT-BE92U and RT-AX86U Pro as Asus AiMesh? Coz 1 is tri-band, the latter is dual-band.

1) CAT5e officially supports 2.5Gbps, but it may actually works with 10 Gbps, if the cable quality is good.

2) RT-BE92U has single 10G port which will be used as WAN port in your case. It does not have 10G LAN port then, but rather with quad 2.5Gbe ports. You need to use three 2.5Gbe capable wired devices to consume about 7 Gbps, or four 2.5Gbe capable wired devices to consume the full bandwidth of about 8.2 Gbps.

3) It is not that easy to break 2.5Gbps with wireless, other than WiFi 7 devices with 320 MHz channel bandwidth on the 6GHz band, at close distance. But you may not be able to break 2.5Gbps with RT-BE92U, which has a lower end CPU and lower WiFi 7 spec on the 6GHz band.

DongKnows review of RT-BE92U.

4) You can do that if you use Ethernet Backhaul, just that the mesh node does not have 6GHz band.

Yes you are right on point 4! Am on ethernet backhaul for the mesh nodes. Ok, I will try your suggestion! Thank you as always!!

Finally did a wired setup for my pair of BT10s, with 10G ports connecting the main router to the mesh node. Great wifi connectivity around the house and very stable ethernet connection for my PC.
