The free EX520 is totally not worth S$60...

Archer BE230 is way better and some users get it at S$80+.

Archer AX72 is also way better than EX520.
Free wifi-6 routers are definitely not worth it if want to future proof our home connections.

I think new users for M1 should choose the 6gbps plan and existing M1 subscribers should re-contract to at least the 2.5gbps plan

I still have 1 more year before plan expire. Hope will drop further.

Tell you all already, the price will get better and better.

I think maybe because their customer service received calls about the price 😂

Hopefully in a few years time, the monthly plan will drop to below $20 :ROFLMAO:

At least M1 give an option to top up $2 per mth for a TP-Link Archer BE230 router if new/re-contract to 1 Gbps plan.

Not so bad. 😂

is it worth it to top up $2 x 24 months for TP-Link Archer BE230?

Top up $2per month for the BE230 is not a bad deal right?

Yes, it is worth to top up S$2 per month (total S$48) for the Archer BE230 (dual 2.5G ports, dual band WiFi 7 BE3600) from the TP-Link EX520, if you do not have a good existing router.

If you have an okay router, like TP-Link Archer AX72 (free router bundled with older M1 1Gbps plan), you can choose to stay with the Archer AX72 for the 1Gbps recontract, no need to top-up for the Archer BE230. If you have even better ones like Asus TUF-AX6000 or GT-AX6000, then no point to use Archer BE230 either.

The main benefits of Archer BE230 compared to Archer AX72 is the dual 2.5Gbps which makes it useful for M1 2.5Gbps/3Gbps plan.

Went to M1 shop for recontract, needs the SingPass login, no router upgrade required, so will be $24.90 per month. After contract expires will revert to $40.xx. Collect the free router on the spot. Total about 10 mins, done; excluding queuing time.

Hopefully in a few years time, the monthly plan will drop to below $20 :ROFLMAO:

As long as NLT charges the ISPs S$13.5 per month per user for residential FIbre internet (1;24 split ratio, used to be S$15 per month, later droped to S$13.80 and dropped at S$13.5 last year), this is just impossible...

Reference:
NLT charges -- S$15 per month per user initially.
https://www.imda.gov.sg/-/media/imd...network/netlink-trusts-ico/19-schedule-15.pdf

Reduced to S$13.80 per month per user based on the following IMDA file dated 2-March-2020.
https://www.imda.gov.sg/-/media/imd...work/schedule-15-approved-date-2-mar-2020.pdf

Furher reduced to S$13.50 from April 2024 onwards as per the following DBS article.
https://www.dbs.com.sg/treasures/ai...t/data/en/DBSV/052024/NETLINK_SP_05202024.xml

Residential connection continues to be the key contributor at 60% of revenue in 4Q24 (60% in 3Q24). In 4Q24, NLT’s residential fibre connection increased to 1.507mn from 1.501mn in 3Q24 while non-residential fibre connections increased to 53.5k from 53.2k. From April 2024, residential connection pricing was lowered by 2% to S$13.50 per connection while non-residential is unchanged at S$55 per connection.

I do not think those who subscribe to 6Gbps plan at S$34.90 per month (new user) or S$32.90 per month need to regrete at all, those are better offers than this M1 1Gbps recontract offer.

1) M1 1Gbps recontract offer with lousy EX520 for S$24.90 per month --> say resale value of the router is at S$48 (I think it is not even worth S$48), effective price at S$22.90 for M1 1Gbps no-frills plan.

2) M1 6Gbps recontract offer with Archer BE805 for S$32.90 per month, selling the router at S$300, effective price of M1 6Gbps no-frills plan is at S$20.4 per month.

M1 6Gbps recontract offer with two ZenWiFi BT10 for S$44.90 per month, selling the two nodes at S$720 (actual pricing seems to be higher), effective price of M1 6Gbps no-frills plan is at S$14.90 per month.

3) M1 6Gbps new user offer with Archer BE805 for S$34.90 per month, selling the router at S$300, effective price of M1 6Gbps no-frills plan is at S$22.4 per month.

M1 6Gbps new user offer with two ZenWiFi BT10 for S$46.90 per month, selling the two nodes at S$720 (actual pricing seems to be higher), effective price of M1 6Gbps no-frills plan is at S$16.90 per month.

It seems to me M1 wants to clear the stock of wrongly bought TP-Link EX520 and the Huawei GPON ONTs (smaller and bigger version). M1 is the last ISP to offer 1Gbps plan. And M1 2.5Gbps plan use a different ONT.

As mentioned earlier, I do not think M1 1Gbps recontract offer is NOT of very good value compared to M1 6Gbps newe user offer or recontract offer. But I understand different people may have different opinion. It is also human nature that you may in the end spend more on the 6Gbps plan once you start to upgrade your device to be able to "fully utilize" the bandwidth (which is not really possible for most of the users).

One of the earlier post mentioned that M1 customer service told him that M1 3Gbps/6Gbps/10Gbps plan would be available to all users in July 2025. That is in line with my guess from the hint given by M1 note in the sign-up page.

https://shop.m1.com.sg/fbb/plans-bundles/fbb-plan?plan=HOMEPAC_6GBPS_24
Note: If you plan to move your address by June 2025, we recommend signing up for our 1Gbps or 2.5Gbps plans.

Need advice.

Currently on 500Mbps plan, paying $30.45/mth :(
Edit: Out-of-contract 500Mbps plan

Today, M1 sent me an SMS with the latest offers

Unfortunately, the 6Gbps is at $47.90/mth for recontract, not the $32.90/mth offer

Family internet usage:
3 mobile phones (Samsung Note 10, Samsung S24 Ultra, Oppo Reno10 Pro+)
3 tablets (Samsung Galaxy S7+, 2 iPad Pro)
1 TV (Sony Bravia)
2 laptops (both using Killer(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX1650x 160MHz Wireless Network Adapter (200NGW) and Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller 1000/1000 Mbps)

Mainly for entertainment (Youtube, Netflix, etc) and mobile gaming on phones and tablets.

Which plan should I go for?

I know for 2.5Gbps and above plans, I need an ethernet card to support 2.5Gbps and above speeds for wired connection. I can also get USB C to Ethernet adaptors that can support 2.5Gbps and higher speeds, if not mistaken.

Edit: I am using ROG Rapture GT-AX110000 router

Appreciate all the advice.

Re-contract to the 2.5 gbps with $29.90 is better offer.

For PC network adapter you can buy this ..
TP-Link TX401 10 Gigabit PCI Express Network Adapter
