Just wanna check, whats the difference between iPhone plans and other plans?

Is it just a marketing strategy? Because I planning to recontract my phone line to an iPhone plan to get the iPhone but going to continue using on my Samsung phone.

Comparing

Standard plan: M1

Iphone plan: M1 iPhone

Iphone plan gives free 4G VAS with a iPhone but standard plan is waived until further notice ($10.70 per month)

With now Singtel removing the 4G VAS for free (Charge like 3G) next week, M1 might follow suit within 2 years and if Starhub follow suits, it is courting it's death since Starhub is the only telco that did not offer 2600MHz band AND not being a nation-wide coverage (Should be done by a few more months)

The rest, basically is the same....

Unless you are willing to pay higher for the phone for $10 cheaper @ $25.68 for Sunsaver plan that comes without data (WTF!)

If like that means better to get iPhone plan mah since they "guarantee" free 4G for the next 2 years... unless they have not update yet their website eversince the iPhone 5S/C is introduced.

My current plan is ValueSurf+ @ $39. No diff for the $39 iPhone plan except for the words they use to explain the 4G future rates.

I think the only problem with this idea is that you need to buy the iPhone to get on the iPhone plan, and there is a substantial upfront payment for it :-(
May not be worth the $10 savings per month from subscribing to a normal 4G plan.

iPhone is always not cheap anyway. For any plans except the $98 and $198 plan (700 mins and unlimited talk time), you need to pay quite an amount for the phone itself.

However, if you choose Samsung flagship product, for similar price, you don't get iPhone plan.

M1 offers most value plan if you do home work. They are also honest for the Mobile Broadband compared to other telcos by charging for data and not speed, which is poor for all 3. (One telco claimed zip 150Mbps on the go, but typical download speed is 5Mbps ~ 40Mbps, meaning most of the time one is using less than one-third of the speed)

True. That $10 I might save every month, I would need to pay up front first when getting the iPhone.

Hmmm need to do some calculations.

If compared to Sun Saver plans, they come without any data.

Get iPhone = need to use data hence just take $39 plan as basic use.
