Hi guys i just went to paragon as i have only 1 month left on my contract. I have been with m1 since iphone 3gs and i have the $59/month plan. I just enquired about the recontract but the guy told me since im under 21 i have to pay for the iphone based on the cheapest plans price therefore instead of the 300+ for 32gb iphone 5s i have to pay 600+ even tho im getting the $59/month. Is this the same for the other telcos because i have no recollection in the past that i had to pay the phone based on the cheapest price plan although im getting the more expensive plan

yes.. i'm really sorry to say.

Singtel too have this policy.. when i was below 21 previously. They said i had to pay $800 deposit + phone price.. which was ridiculous. $800 will/may not be return and will be forfeit if you late payment 1 time....

however, i managed to escape that and just pay phone price.

however M1 may not be bluffing you, you may need a guarantor instead, tell them instead of paying the cheapest price plan. what other method are there?

Enjoy.

HWZ may not be a M1 customer service, but we may have the similar plight like TS and wished to help him.

By calling M1 like asking TS that he shouldn't have come here to even start this thread.

We should be seeing anyone have similar situation and how they solve it.

What is a forum for? it's meant to share. If calling telco can get answer, won't need a forum to discuss :) true?

Sorry my 2cent, don't feel offended.

Your father go with you. most likely will be settled as u got a guarantor ^^. remmeber dont pay for the cheapest plan phone price. that is against the T&C set.

I kena a diff but similar case before, was exactly one month away from my birthday and encountered an ironic situation.

In the end had to reason my way from the receptionist staff, to the counter staff to the shop manager in Paragon.

I told them as a potential customer who wishes to signup now for a new phone with a new line, why are you stopping me?! Lols.

In the end we compromised and paid a $200 upfront as a "deposit' to offset against future bills and could buy the wanted hp with the normal price.

Sometimes, you need to make the sales staff/manager see that their T&C are all written by Man, why can't them as a human not follow it or change it when they have the discretion.

Hope that helps !
