You cannot get the free plan by itself. You need to buy at the very least, the $12 add-on for the first time. When the 30 days for the $12 add-on expires, it will become the base plan that is free. Base plan entitlements runs from 1st day of the month to the last day of the month.

It's not a free plan actually.
Just that for now, it's $0/mth, and they're expecting u to purchase add-ons.

If people continue abusing like this, the $5/mth waiver might be removed for those that never purchase add-ons at all for pro-longed period of time.

Now is 270 days of inactivity only I know.

So if you don't use for 270 days then get cancelled? Or if you don't buy an add on for 270 days then get cancelled

For now it's never use for 270 days.

But don't be surprised if they change T&C in the future, they need to answer to Keppel and SPH one.

They tightened up the T&Cs recently. It's now 90 days. In the past, you just had to pay $5 to reactivate the service. Now, it's termed as revoking the 'promotional discount' (ie you need to pay $5 per month). However, the T&Cs aren't super clear if the revoking is for just that month or subsequent months as well. If you don't pay within 30 days, your line will be terminated.

So confirm ah? Let's say I sign up a M1 Maxx plan on say 15th of the month, together with a $12 addon, which means that the addon benefits last until the next month's 15. Then what about the base plan entitlements? Still from 1st of the day to last day of the month?

Also, is the number considered prepaid number or postpaid number? Can I port out the number if I dun want to use M1 Maxx anymore?

Yes. The $12 plan will run for exactly one month. The base plan always re-sets on the 1st.

This is considered a postpaid number. You can port out the number but only to another post-paid plan.

I see... my plan is like this, I plan to get this line to mainly receive calls and seldom make outgoing calls. If occasionally need to make more outgoing calls then I plan to buy a $12 plan to share amongst 2 months, ie start from 15th of the month to 15th of the following month, hence making it somewhat $6 monthly.

So can I confirm that under a no addon situation, if I buy a $12 plan that start on the 15th, then from Month 1's first to 14th will still have the 10 mins outgoing call, then on the Month 2's 16th to 31st there will still be another 10 mins outgoing call?

Yes, that's pretty much how it works

No lah. If M1 remove the waiver, people will just move on to less troublesome plans only only slightly more, like the Zero1 starter plan for only $6.90 with more talktime more data etc.

Yes, the information I posted, is what I enquired on around last year around October 2021 period. I called M1 hotline to check, cos I don't wanna go into those shops and start asking questions then walk out. M1 Maxx customer service is handled by their Prepaid team.

M1 Maxx numbers is Postpaid, so can only port in from a Postpaid number source. However how M1 runs this "M1 Maxx" system is like a Prepaid behavior (The M1 Customer Service person compares it like how overseas prepaid system do not have a "stored value" system like Singapore's). In Short, M1 Maxx is a postpaid number, but M1 treat it as the same product behavior as a Prepaid one. (i.e. you pay in advance what you need to use, once all entitlements is used up, all services is cut unless you buy more of the add-ons).

I think someone mentioned somewhere on this forums a "postpaid/prepaid hybrid" system.

As for the base plan entitlements, yes still 1st day to last day of the month. I'm not too sure about in your situation, after the add-ons expires on next month's 15th, is base plan entitlements pro-rated, that i'm not sure as I forgot to ask. But following months onwards, it will be standard 1st day start, end of month end cycle for base plan entitlements.

The terms and conditions probably gave a hint, so I suppose the usage deduction will be made from the Add-Ons first with the Base Plan's being last to be deducted.

https://www.m1.com.sg/terms-and-conditions/maxx

MAXX PLAN ADD-ONS
  1. Usage deduction will be based on the following order (where applicable):
    • Maxx Plan / IDD / Add-Ons
    • Port In Bonus
    • Base Plan

From what I read from M1 Maxx website, the minimum upfront payment upon signing up a new line have to buy the $12 top up.

And every 30 days I have to buy a top up (min $12) or will the line still be maintained as long as there’s usage? Basically what is the minimum cost to sign up and maintain a M1 Maxx line? Any M1 Maxx users or experts can advice? Thanks in advance!

No need to keep topping up as there will be a basic plan on the line, is $0 as long as u use the data or outgoing call/sms once during 90 days.

My M1 Maxx suddenly got 1gb free roaming in Malaysia, Indonesia and Bangladesh. Not bad. ......

The other change is that:
If you pay $70 -- you get 70GB local data every 30days (for the next 180days).
If you pay $36 -- you get 60GB local data every 30days (for the next 90days).
If you pay $12 -- you only get 50GB local data for the next 30days.

The FREE 1GB roaming in these 3 overseas locations is only for those currently on the $70/$36/$12 M1 Maxx plans -- (obviously) not available for those on the base plan ($0 till further notice).

What this means is that M1 Maxx lines will have roaming mobile network connectivity in (at least) these 3 overseas locations.

Since receiving SMS is available on all mobile lines as long as got mobile network connectivity...

Thus, M1 Maxx lines -- by logic -- can receive OTP SMS while roaming in (at least) these 3 overseas locations.

The (key) question then -- is roaming mobile network connectivity (also) available for those on the base plan.
(Should be yes -- since all prepaid also have roaming/overseas mobile network connectivity -- despite prepaid don't have any subscription plan by default.)

Yes I also just saw on the App itself.

Does it mean that M1 might come out with roaming for M1 MAXX eventually? But still, in SG it is M1 network 🤣
